None of the media brought up Embiid's games missed this year, because they are able to differentiate. Only a few people on realgm who have an axe to grind.

But if you’re gonna talk about precedent then why can’t others use precedent too?
That's terrible logic.

Interesting. Using the same logic as you is terrible

That’s great because it is a regular season award.

Agreed. I had Jokic as the MVP

I responded to your initial post. If you have a problem with it, then you shouldn't have written what you said. You expect people not to respond to that?

And to respond to this one, yes Masai is awesome at his job, and he's black. Thanks for proving my point. The NBA needs more execs like him. I didn't say all coaches need to be former players. I said that more coaches need to better represent the demographics of the large majority of the NBA community.

I thought this was a thread on Jokic winning the MVP tho.

WOW, you BIG mad. Get over yourself. We've known for weeks now that Jokic was winning it, why are you the only one who seems to be totally taken aback by it?

No you think Giannis should be the MVP.
You've stated this all year long in the MVP thread.
If it wasn't Giannis, you would go with Embiid.
If it wasn't Embiid, you would go with Booker or CP or Luka or Ja or DeRozan or Tatum or whoever not named Jokic.

It’s REGULAR season award

And Jokic won more regular season games than Embiid did

Is Jokic still in America, or is he overseas holidaying? When does he get the trophy?

Jokic was only ahead of Embiid in fg%, 2p%, efg%, orb, drb, trb, ast, stl, pf (low), PER, ts%, orb%, drb%, trb%, ast%, stl%, ows, dws, ws, ws/48, obpm, dbpm, bpm, vorp, games played, minutes, and he's white! Must be racism.

Well deserved. I'm very happy for him, as I'd be for Giannis or Embiid as well.

I love his mental makeup and the way he goes about doing his craft.

We had the closest MVP race in many, many years. All-time seasons from those 3 players.

Nice! I once helped Dana Barros buy his kid some books for summer reading at my book store and that made me feel special lol. Can only imagine a connection to a goat like Jokic

He deserved it. With the 2nd and 3rd best players out he really made a miracle to achieve that record with the Nuggets.

People saying he can't win, he's a regular season player and whatever you gotta think... should he have won more with this team? Get past the Warriors? Kobe 06 got out in the 1st round. Would it be absurd if he won the MVP award?

It's one thing to be a 6th seed with a great squad. It's another to get it within the context of Jokic's season.

So... don't be salty and appreciate it. Dude had a fantastic season.

Congrats to jokic for back to back mvps. Was he a worthy mvp candidate? Absolutely. Was he the most deserving this season? No. It really should have gone to Joel Embiid for what he accomplished given the circumstances. The playoffs really highlighted what Embiid was really working with. There was more talk about Jokic not having his 2nd 3rd best player than Embiid not having Simmons who was considered an all nba caliber player not that long ago. And if we're being honest calling Mpg jokic 3rd best player is like calling Karl Anthony Towns not having his 2nd best player Andrew Wiggins(when he was with the wolves). It doesnt hold much weight. If there ever was a narrative for this award it was exactly that. Embiid carrying his team all season long w/o his all nba teammate who quit on his team/city.

The biggest gripe about the mvp award is the criteria has no consistency its constantly changing depending on who tge media wants for the mvp. The mvp or any regular season award is completely subjective and the players are at the mercy of the voters subjective biases. Interrstingly Embiid was well liked early on his career even with his antics and witty Twitter comments but somewhere along tge way with tge constant disappointment in tge playoffs tge rift between he and simmons, the flopping hes become a villain of sorts by fans and some media.

I do believe joel embiid will win a mvp down the road but I feel this was a massive snub by the nba media this season. To give Embiid the mvp based on this snub narrative going forward feels cheap. The only way Embiid can truly change the negative perception surrounding him is to carry his 76ers team to a nba title. Congrats again to Jokic.

You know this kind of argument might have a slight bit of substance if Embiid had ever gotten out of the 2nd round himself

Also, Nick Wright is probably one of the biggest jokes in the US media. Everyone knows that. I’m surprised you think his takes are post worthy

Jokic has gone further in the playoffs than Embiid ever has.

Same top-3 candidates as last season and Joker improved the most. Giannis and Embiid were great but you had to give it to the incumbent.
