Like someone in the comment section said. Only free throw line could guard Shaq effectively

Re: Rudy Gobert on Shaq:I would lock his a** up
This whole arguments stupid
Shaq for an ‘analyst’ doesn’t understand that NBA now is a game where you don’t guard 1v1, you guard 5v5
It was different in his day when there were tons of really good offensive centers, way less good shooters, illegal defender rules etc. The game was built around stopping your man.
Gobert is the best defensive player in the NBA because he’s the best at guarding the rim and guarding all 5 positions.
Yeah Shaq would get his against Gobert. Shaq would get absolutely cooked and embarrassed trying to guard motion offenses and getting ISO’d at the 3 point line. Young Shaq could do alright but Lakers Shaq and beyond couldn’t guard a PnR effectively and didn’t move much on D.
Shaqs lack of understanding on the modern NBA is pretty glaring and he doesn’t respect the modern game because he thinks basketball is a game of 5x 1v1 matchups.

Rudy RARELY responds to talk like this.... wish he wouldn't have said a word because he ain't stopping Shaq from getting his.

Tyson Chandler was statistically the best matchup on Shaq..
So I'm thinking Gobert could be decent.

Gobert will likely get destoryed by Shaq, both physically and mentally.

Re: Rudy Gobert on Shaq:I would lock his a** up
Maybe I missed something but why does it feel like star players past and present are always going at Gobert? Seems like a pretty mild mannered guy..

Doubt it but can't prove it and Shaq always talks so much **** for no reason that I am cool with Gobert standing his ground

This by a 1000. Shaq is a guy stuck in his old world.
Goes also back to his stupid stuff about "KP is 7-3, he HAS to post up more"

Does Gobert think he's a better defender than Olajuwon, Mutombo and Dwight Howard?
