Jonathan Isaac: Now only due $23.6 million guaranteed: Does it change anything?
In light of reports that given the amount of time Isaac has missed, he is no longer due $52.2 million guaranteed.
2022-23: $16 million
2023-24: $7.6 million
2024-25: Un-guaranteed
=$23.6 million
Does he become a greater trade chip now if:
a) The Magic draft a big?
b) The availability of 4/5s in free agency
OR
Does this just increase the chance they keep Isaac and now Bamba with greater financial flexibility thats been created.

Would Orlando be open to another path such as trading him for a blah contract + compensation?
It wouldn't be assigning much if any value to him as a player, just a path for another team to exit a contract that they no longer want. If Isaac is actually able to play, that is a bonus rather than an actual expectation.

Magic needs to shoot.. right?? Bertans/Dallas22/Green for Isaak..
or if you do not want money in the long term..
Powell/Burke/Green or Dallas 22 for Isaak .??
He would be a perfect fit for the Mavs small 5 ball..he would..as long as the Dallas medical service gave his blessing

For the record his overall salary doesn’t change, the new numbers are just the new guaranteed amounts of his contract with the remainder being unguaranteed. Unless Orlando plans to waive him keeping him doesn’t create any extra salary.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

I think he's not a negative anymore, probably closer to neutral or the right team is willing to risk sending some minor positive value. If another team wants to give up some bench pieces and a later pick or something to try him out and hope against hope he takes the court, then there's much less risk because they can just cut him loose after next season for just $7M for 1 year, instead of still being on the hook for 2 years $34M or whatever it would've been.
At that price, I expect Orlando holds onto him anyway.

Probably makes a trade less likely. A team trading for him now is less on the hook if he's injured, but there's still only so high a price teams would pay for such a question mark. And that price likely isn't high enough that an ORL team with tons of youth and cap space feels the urgency to sell low. Especially not now that they have an out if the injuries continue.

I'd love him as the Suns PF. Laundry Shamet would be great addition to the ORL locker room and team.

Re: Jonathan Isaac: Now only due $23.6 million guaranteed: Does it change anything?
Orlando should definitely get him on the floor to see how he fits/what level he can still play at. Unless they think he really can't and they want to salvage value in the potential of returning to form. But that sell low feels improbable given their need for talent and the org's apparent embrace of JI.
I get that these are his guarantee numbers, so it only matters if he gets waived, but it doesn't matter what team he's on right? Like these figures don't become gtd if he moves from Orlando? I wouldn't think so, but this whole situation is a little foreign to me.

Isaac still is a theoretical great fit next to Sabonis. It's just the injuries that worry me. I'd be interested in trading for him, but both Mitchell or #7 is too steep of a price for me. I think the only types of deals I'd be interested in would be:
1. Holmes for Isaac (would likely bring in a 3rd team to take on Holmes and that 3rd team routing an asset to ORL)
2. Protected Future 1st for Isaac
Not sure if Orlando bites on any of those but that's likely all I'd be willing to give up.

Kings are a great fit next to Domas if they want to gamble on his health.
Defense wins draft lotteries!

Holmes isn't returning an asset at this point.

There have been some recent developments in Holmes off court events which bode in his favor. From James Ham:
A Los Angeles court awarded Kings center, Richaun Holmes, sole physical and sole legal custody of his son. Holmes' ex-wife defied LA court order and took the child to Georgia. A Georgia court conferred with LA court and ruled in Richaun's favor. Richaun now has his son.
Assuming his off court issues are resolved (and the little bits and pieces we're getting here and there tend to be leaning in favor of Homes), I don't see why he couldn't return an asset.

Ideally, I'd like him to be a better shooter and allow Sabonis & Fox to dominate the paint, but his defensive fit is phenomenal.
If we can't...
- Draft Holmgren, J. Smith, or K. Murray
- Sign someone like Kyle Anderson
- Trade for someone like PJ Washington
...I'd likely call up Orlando to see what the asking price is for Isaac.

Re: Jonathan Isaac: Now only due $23.6 million guaranteed: Does it change anything?
Not sure the value/direction is right here for Orlando, but I like him as a piece in a DLo to New York trade potentially after FA, if New York strikes out:
To Minnesota:
Kemba
Isaac
Noel
To Orlando:
Burks
Bolmaro
Naz
MN 2023 1st Top 10 protected
NYK 2023 2nd
To New York:
DLo
Minnesota would be giving up their only chance at cap space in 2023, but a lineup of Beverley/Edwards/McDaniels/Isaac/Towns with Kemba/Beasley/Prince/Vanderbilt/Noel off the bench gives them a solid young core with tons of defense and more of a veteran presence off the bench.
Orlando gets off salary, gets a look at Naz (would depend on MN not extending him) and Bolmaro, along with a mid-1st and early-to-mid 2nd
New York gets a look at DLo for a year and gets off future salary while giving up a 2nd in a draft where they currently have 5 picks

i think magic keep him for yr if he is not healthy or looking stronger by end of season waive him..if he looks good and close to being worth 16 for the next yr keep him..do not see them selling at low..if all magic do is resign mo to good deal and sign draft pick they have a ton of cap space next summer and should have 2 first rd picks

His "healthy" value is WAY beyond these offers...Orlando would be absolutely foolish to sell so low, given his age and the team's present place in the league...of all the team's that can afford to be patient with him, the best suited one is the team he's already on.

Just to gauge value:
Jonathan Isaac for expiring contracts + # _ _ pick in the 2022 draft
What would you put there?

A team that figures they will be in the lottery could trade for him reasoning that if he's healthy he plays and they don't have to rush a rookie. If he plays well they got a great deal for 2023-24 or they can trade him to a team who believes he'll stay healthy. If he ends up injured they play the rookie, they spent some money and lost the gamble, no bigs.

Assuming the Magic draft a 4/5 with their own 1st, I only trade Isaac, along with #32 and/or #35 if I can land a decent 1st round pick.
ie. Issac/#32/#35 to OKC for #12
ie. Isaac/#35 to San Antonio for Richardson/Collins/#20
ie. Isaac/Fultz/#32 to Minnesota for Russell/#19
