Young Lebron was easily more mobile than current Giannis, it's just that it's now been 12 years or so since he lost that quickness. Miami Lebron had lost a ton of first step quickness and fluidity.

I just dont recall the lateral mobility w/ lebron, ever. The earlier in his career, the more raw he played. Compared to Giannis or Luka he never showed those abilities, that i aslo consider athleticism.

Wait, are you trying to tell me that young James was less mobile than Luka?

Can you show me some clips of him doing euro steps around defenders in his early years? He was strong, could explode like very few before, but he wasnt mobile / agile like some of todays' players, yes. Have you been wathing back then? Dont you remember him running though defenders all the time?

I remember him blowing by guards with essentially just his first step. Not a guard, but watch Prince try to guard/stay in front of him in the Pistons series in 07.

Lebron lost that quickness and fluidity by 2011, so there's a lot of prime (most would say peak) Lebron without that level of mobility, but he definitely had it when he was young.

Quickness, Speed, explosiveness and agility/mobility are all different things. In simple words, he has always had a lot of north/south athleticism, not so much east/west lateral mobility. Takes another kind of core strength. I simply dont remember him ever showing it even at an average level the way we see it from Giannis or Luka or Tatum or Ja these days. Athleticism isnt just jumping high.

09-10 LeBron is a DC/Marvel character. That’s all I have to say.
Thanks for all the great memories, LeBron! The show must go on! #Heatnation

Euro steps weren't as common back then and it was the time before this stupid "gather step" rules.

Having that said, yeah - it's not hard to find James beating defenders with his quickness and footwork. Watch any random game from before 2011.
