He's one of those modern bigs who is essentially the perfect role player.

- Defends guards effectively
- Shoots the three effectively

There's almost no reason not to have him on the floor. The other team cannot put him into a disadvantage defensively, and he spreads the floor on offense.

Well his biggest weakness is rim protection since he's so undersized and pretty ground bound. I think the Celtics can mitigate that because their perimeter defense is so elite, but he might struggle if you tried to play him at the 5 on a team that didn't have great point of attack defense.

But he never plays the 5. Hasn't played it once this year. He's a wing now.

When Rob's the roamer and the other big (Al or Grant) is guarding the opposing team's center, the positional assignments on defense are open for semantic debate.

He almost went Harvard. Good student also. One thing that hasn't been mentionned is that he lost nearly 20 pounds after his rookie year. He did what he needed to do to be successful.

I think the Celtics will offer Marcus Smart money and Williams should take it.

Robert Williams plays weakside defense and the Celtics start him on a wing. He might be listed as the 5 on the scorers sheet but he's hardly ever in the traditional center spot in front of the basket defensively, it's Grant Williams or Horford who fill that role.

Celts obviously going to try to extend him this summer before he hits free agency, but his agent isn't going to give them much of a discount now, LOL.

Dude deserves it, though. He's a very valuable, very hard to find type of role player.

Celtics need to lock him into a deal at all costs. He's the heir apparent to Horford, who's gonna turn 36 next year.

For what it’s worth i was recently at a conference and Steph Curry’s shooting and skills coach gave a talk there. This guy has managed Steph since 2013 and talked in great detail about Steph versus others. He’s trained hundreds of NBA players over the past decade. Talked about Cam Reddish and how useless he is lol. And most interestingly, talked a lot about Grant Williams and how (after Steph) he’s really internalized the training, what to do, etc etc and thinks he’s going to be an excellent player. This talk was a few weeks ago.

I still wouldn't give him a Top 3 salary on the team, but you never know. Only takes one moronic team to give him a ridiculous offer. That's why the Celts likely try to get an extension done in the summer.

To be fair, a lot of players can flop and hit 7 of 18 wide open corner 3s. The Bucks (awful) defensive scheme deserves the real credit.

He shot 41% from 3 for the season. I guess he played against the Bucks defense every game.

If he did then he's be averaging 38.8% haha
