Here is to no one having a nuclear meltdown because we didn't get the first pick or because we did but because they'll think we'll blow it etc etc!

I don’t even want the number one pick unless it’s to trade down for 4 and 12 ( OKC would love Holmgren) or we use it to land an all star in their prime( yeah, who? No idea) When boston took faults and traded down for Tatum it was genius. Anyone with eyes could see Tatum was the real deal and I hope we do something similar with Murray.

I’m already having a pre-meltdown over not getting a Top 4 pick.

Tatum was much younger, faced much better competition at Duke and was touted as a true SF rather than a PF, which is where Murray is being projected.

I know Murray is your guy, but I dont see much similarity to Tatum. I see Tobias Harris / Glen Robinson.

I could see Murray and Tatum having similar measurables in the testing environment, but on the court I see a big difference in fluidity. Jayson moves like someone 6'4 despite being 6'8, that is a big reason he is so good. I simply dont see that with Murray (Sorta like a having 2 Cornerbacks test at 4.3 but one having much more fluid hips, to use a NFL analogy).

Maybe Murray isn't the best comparison as a type of player, but the I'm more referencing the moves made with Boston and Philly. If we get the number one pick, the top three guys have a lot of questions imo, but scoring is the most translatable skill in the league and Murray can certainly do that. His efficiency was elite, and so was his advanced metrics, not to mention he's a two way player with a high motor that mostly plays off ball. Perfect for the blazers with Ball dominating guards. If we trade down for him and pick up another lottery pick in this draft or the next one, that's a no brainer.

A close second would be Jabari, but as elite of a shooter as he is and his switchable defense he can't create for himself and isn't a playmaker. You're really banking on him being a 6'10 elite spot up shooter and pick and pop guy. Reminds me John Collins but with more elite shooting.

Chet would get drafted and suffer acl, mcl, and any other ligament damage conceivable the first week of training camp because it is the destiny of the blazers to draft big men made of glass at number 1. He also plays for Gonzaga and I'm still not over the last bust (physically and literally) we drafted from there. A day that will live in infamy. No one listened to me then and I'm sure a lot of you won't this time either but I was right.

Paolo reminds of a combination between Jabari Parker, Derrick Williams, jahill okafor, Michael Beasley etc. Someone I would take in the mid first round but not with a number one.

Ivey looks like Ja 2.0 but he's not a great shooter and really needs to develop his playmaking ability. Insane athlete and high ceiling but we have Ant and Dame already... Which brings me to back to Murray. There's no downside with him except age, but the last two 22 year olds we drafted were ROTY and 2 of the greatest blazers ever.

If we get the first pick and OKC wants holmgren that bad (of course they do), they should be willing to use the 12th pick and another future unprotected pick to move up.

That would give us the 12th, the Milwaukee pick, and another future first to use in trades with the tpe's and Bledsoe deal. You can make real good moves with those assets. Maybe even trade the Milwaukee pick to Chicago for the rights to our pick back so we can use multiple firsts and swaps for another star. I highly, highly suggest this route.

I haven't seen the blazers go all in since trader Bob, and a lot of us are old. I'm not that old but I do have some health issues and I want to see us go for it. Sorry I want to us try for once before I die... Talk about the future all you want but nothing's promised tomorrow and I'm living for today. **** Everything, yolo.

Using past bad luck to remove someone from our draft board in Chet is just so silly. And using a past bust to remove a school from our draft board is also silly.

We can hope for a top 3 pick but the odds say we'll likely end picking at 7. That should be okay

HAPPY DRAFT LOTTERY DAY!

2 minutes away and I'm freaking out. I too am hoping for some good luck :meditate:. A fun fact: We had just a 5.3% chance of getting the #1 back in '07, but I too am also just asking for a 3 spot bump (Not feeling greedy). Either one of the big forwards would be huge I think... like back when we got LA.

Eh. 7th is about the median of outcomes Portland could have had.

Man this blows, we can't even hope to pick the top 5 guy who drops because a team picks someone stupid instead. 7 was really a bad scenario here and makes the pick about the same worth as the one we lost
