Let’s wait and see how Butler and Miami play against a good defense. No offense to Atlanta, but they are one of the worst and softest defensive playoff teams I’ve ever seen. We saw how the Bucks locked up Butler last postseason. Philly will be a much bigger challenge.

Tell us when or are we going to pretend the Heat have no superstar forever because it is a narrative people keep repeating even though it’s wrong.

What? Still waiting. Celtics replaced two of their top 4 defenders with guys who hardly make the rotation outside of garbage time, two guys who Butler attacked in switches. .
So yeah, let's see him do this against a good defense cause that roster Boston rolled out tonight? That was a worse defense than Philly. Please....and you won by single digits in a game where Boston outplayed you for 3 quarters, Brown didn't show up, and missed free throws.

Miami looks overmatched this series, all things considered.

Why are people pretending the Celtics were not missing two of their 4 best players in a game that felt winnable?

The Celtics were missing Marcus Smart against Milwaukee in game 2 when they held Milwaukee to 86 points.

Butler just became the first player ever to record 41 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 3 blocks in a playoff game, and he shot 12-19 from the field and 17-18 from the free throw line.

Even if the Celtics win the series, Butler is still a star. Butler averaged 26, 8, and 10 in a Finals series on 65.8 TS% with good defense.

Honestly, who gives a ****? His team is winning and won again today. He was a waste of space the past couple of playoffs when it really counted, but he is bringing it so far this post season and really thats all that matters.

Pippen is superior to Butler.

Pippen is a better defensive player than Butler, but Butler is a much better scorer.

Pippen in the 1994 playoffs: 23, 8, and 5 on 54.4 TS%, 22.8 PER.

Butler in the 2022 playoffs: 29, 8, and 5 on 59.2 TS%, 31.3 PER.

30.1/7.8/5.4 on +7.0 rTS%

After the first 2 rounds. What a way to start round 3.

The past couple of playoffs? Like in 2020 when his team made it to the Finals and he had a 40 point triple double? Or 2019 when he led the 76ers in points and assists in the series against the Raptors when it took a crazy shot by Kawhi to beat them?

Butler is odd. Dude tends to coast through the regular season and then turns "it on" for the playoffs so he is always overlooked. He is really good and if he gave this much effort throughout the regular season he may have more accolades.

Yes, exactly the playoffs where he got murdered by Kawhi in that series and then his team got steamrolled in the finals (yes I know it was a generous 4-2, but they were never gonna win). He got outplayed by kawhi. He got outplayed by Bron. But as I said, it means nothing now, cos right now he is killing

You're just a stubborn person stuck in your ways who will never admit he's wrong despite facts being thrown right in your face..

Butler could score 80 points you would still find a reason to trash him.

Not sure why other heat fans even bother going back and forth with you

Jimmy proving me wrong so far, he's been absolutely spectacular.
Its odd to me that at 32 he's having that huge jump in usage and FGs for the fist time, but so far he's pulling it off just fine.
Lets see the rest of the series, Celtics will probably adjust.

Getting outplayed by a guy who wins Finals MVP isn't the same thing as being a waste of space.

Only accolade that matters to Jimmy right now is an NBA championship.

Also, he missed 20+ games with injuries throughout this season. He hasn't played more than 60 games in a season since he left the Bulls. Kind of hard to be everything everywhere all at once when you're in-and-out of the doctor's office. I'd rather he gives it his 200% effort when it matters most even if that means he takes things easier on his body during the regular season. Especially when he has a top-roster around him to make that easier like this season.

I mean they don't. Jimmy Butler's probably my favorite player but he's never had the skillset of a superstar.. he makes up for it by being the mentally toughest guy on the court and has a knack for rising to the occasion in big moments. Similar to Reggie Miller in that way.. completely different player obviously but also a guy that makes you go "huh? that's it?" when you look at his regular season numbers.

Both guys are chronic overachievers and winners despite arguably never at any point in their careers having been one of the top 10 players in the league. Sadly Reggie and the Pacers could never quite get over the hump.. here's to hoping Jimmy and the Heat will.

Butler has a mean pull up jumper game that's slept on. If you're in a position to be a star and you perform up to one, then you're a star. You're a superstar if you're 2way.
