I have some opinions on the players but my strongest opinion is that there likely is NOT a super star in this class. So just select someone they feel is found to a great piece to add to the roster and move on.
Franz, Chuma, Suggs, Cole late … grabbing WCJ. These moves give me confidence they can spot NBA quality talent. We will get a decent player.
I’m not going to stress myself out.
I think it's more of a case of it's harder to identify who can be a star, not that there won't be any. We absolutely don't know just like we didn't know guys like Giannis and Gobert and McCollum would be the best in 2013 despite it being a weaker draft to most people.
Even the Edwards-Wiseman-Ball draft was considered to be the weakest in a long time and two of those guys are already looking incredibly promising. If we mean Doncic-LeBron-Duncan level prospects, yeah, I agree, but talent wise.. the ceilings are open for any of these guys in the first round.
But yeah, most of these top 5 guys would be welcome additions.
Yes, the Doncic level “SUPER STAR” is what I am talking about. That is what this roster needs. I don’t see it in this class. Sure, there is always a chance a surprise like Giannis or Jokic or Kawhi pops out of the later picks but we know the names considered for #1 overall.
I 100% expect Jabari and Paolo to be excellent NBA players … just not Doncic / Duncan level. Chet worries me given his frame but the talent is there.
So my point is, I’m not going to stress myself out over this draft. We will be getting a very good player. Possibly a multi-year All-Star. That’s great!
We still need to push for a franchise SUPER STAR or we are going to be stuck first round exit mode as we were in the Vuc-era. Perhaps this pick pushes us back into relevancy enough that someone wants to take our $$$?
