Re: Former Raptor discussion thread 2.0
I think the big issue with Bruno has always been his motor. He looks good on paper, but it has never translated in the game in any real, meaningful way. He just disappears for long stretches.

You could probably say the same about guys like Mo Bamba and Wiggins, but they're able to find ways to contribute...especially if they're not in a situation where you're reliant on them night in and night out.
At this point, you don't need him to be a world beater. Just a floor spacing big, who can catch lobs, switch on defense and use his length to disrupt passing lanes and contest shots...You think this would be easy to find, but it's not. A 5 that can do these things is very unique and typically comes at a premium.
Anything more than that he could provide would be a bonus. But I'd suspect he could offer some rim protection and the ability to self create a bit and attack closeouts aswell.
You also have to factor in what you'd be giving up for an upgrade at the 5. Who's better that would come at as much of a bargain.
He'd be the best bargain unless we get someone good in the draft. This does look like a good year for bigs and there are a few who I think could help us.

The problem was, he wasn't able to space the floor when he was in the league. He's a career 40% shooter from the field and 30% from 3. Maybe his shot has improved since then, but it wasn't good enough to keep him in the league at the time.
If you aren't willing to do the dirty work around the bucket like a guy like Boucher does, you won't stick in the league shooting like that.

It's hard to guage his motor and impact due to the low stakes nature of his minutes. But he played well and hard in Memphis. And he's been shooting a good percentage on his 3s in Brazil. But you're right you never know. Still switchable, disruptive defensively and a lob threat.

He'll have a bounce back game soon enough. Kinda rough to have him at almost 30 million/yr for another 2 years tho

Re: Former Raptor discussion thread 2.0
Ive re-watched Serge Ibaka's Anything is Possible Documentary a couple of times. Honestly, I really enjoy it much more then I thought. Seeing Serge visit the Congo and his Family with the NBA Trophy was very touching and inspiring.
Also that Documentary of Masai going back to Nigeria. Man that 2019 Championship Season spawned so much good memories.

Re: Former Raptor discussion thread 2.0
I’m okay with building another year or two. Our window is pretty wide and I wouldn’t jeopardize it by trading all the assets in one trade. Leonard trade was different for us. Our team had more depth and the trade switched derozan for Leonard and green with Jakob. This one would drain our depth and future assets. Not onboard with trading Barnes at all. He is the future and present.
KD is special but 34 and not showing the same sustainability as LeBron (who does really). Trading a depth peace and Siakam would be interesting. The whole talk about GTJ, OG and Barnes with picks is asinine to me.

Re: Former Raptor discussion thread 2.0
To be fair I think JV's mockery is a bit too much and unfunny, largely because he was part of a team that was unable to figure out how to beat Lebron in a playoff series. Had he helped accomplish that, this would've been the funniest thing I'd have laid eyes on all year.
And of course the talking heads at ESPN and etc., are taking turns in castigating JV.

A significant part of their income derives indirectly from simply basking in Lebron's comet trail.

To me it’s the difference between espn and tnt. They would’ve leaned into it laughing along with it because they get that this is just as much entertainment as it is sport.
