Yeah, I'm sure his career during his mid/late 30s haunts him deeply, lol.

You think Durant is haunted by anything? I guess in the minds of people posting here he might be but if I had 2 rings, 2 finals MVPs, an MVP and somewhere in the ball park of 200 million bucks in my bank account, I’m guessing I’d be pretty good with my life in my thirties too.

I’m be shocked if he wasn’t dreading the onslaught of trolling he’ll get when warriors win without him. He’ll be more defensive than he’s ever been, and he’s already the most sensitive player in the league.

Unpopular opinion but I think the tail-end of his prime was actually ruined and cut short because of injuries.

Durant suffered a pretty serious achilles injury at the end of his Warriors run, and its pretty apparent to me that he's not the same since it happened. He's going to turn 34 in September so its pretty safe to say his best days are behind him.

And the Heat weren't that good without Shaq. They had a .500 record without Shaq during that season. They don't win anything without him.

- Got injured and had to deal with idiots as teammates in his 3rd year. Now he did have a horrible playoffs so that's the only thing you can really say to him.

It's a fair comment. Those are just excuses.

You must be new. He may be the most insecure player in the sport.

If the Warriors win another title, it'll be meltdown city. There are more craters on his balding head than there are on the moon.

Seriously Durant wanted to do something different but instead allowed the following to happen:

1) Getting Kenny Atkinson fired. Deandre Jordan who was given a 4/40M that nobody else was offering threw a hissy fit over Jarrett Allen being given starting minutes. Durant should've told him to STFU and be happy his butt was still in the league. Instead DJ went to Irving and Durant to get Atkinson fired and along with Irving making dumb comments about how they didn't need a coach it went downhill from there.

2) Making the trade for Harden. Durant and Irving wanted him, but the Nets should've said no especially after Harden came into camp looking like Rick Ross and Mark Henry blended into one bite size burrito bowl. I honestly would've let the 76ers give up the farm and if anything I would've pivoted to make a trade for Ben Simmons. Keep in mind this was before the meltdown against Atlanta. The Nets needed playmaking and a defensive ace on the perimeter if anything and Simmons wouldn't be asked to be a #1 and would allow Durant+Irving+Harris to thrive. If anything they would've been able to keep Jarrett Allen and I would've done this instead:

Indiana: Caris Levert, 2 2nds
Houston: Oladipo(was later flipped for Olynyk+Bradley+lower of PHI/DEN 2nd), Spencer Dinwiddie, TLC, Deandre Jordan, Tyrese Maxey, Matisse Thybulle, a bunch of draft capital from Philly and Brooklyn
Philadelphia: James Harden
Brooklyn: Ben Simmons, Eric Gordon, Danuel House Jr.

Honestly the Nets didn't need Harden and the Rockets were looking to clear the books so to speak so getting a guy like Simmons to create shots for others+keeping Allen and Prince while getting a great shot maker/creator in Gordon and recirculating salary in getting Danuel House Jr. would've been far better. This is what their team could've been:

Simmons/Gordon/Mills
Irving/Brown/Thomas
Harris/House Jr./Edwards
Durant/Prince/vet min
Allen/Claxton/Sharpe

That team would be a title contender although honestly I could still see Irving going AWOL and if Durant had allowed ownership+management to do their jobs, he'd give them the green light to ship Irving's butt out of town in an addition by subtraction deal if Irving kept up his shenanigans. All KD had to do was put Irving in his place and even if Kai didn't listen Durant would still be in a great position with that team minus Irving.

Sadly Durant instead signed off on Irving's BS and allowed him to run amok and his chance at winning a title in Brooklyn is slim at best to put it nicely. What a shame and to add insult to injury the Rockets own their pick for the next 5 years(swaps included which are all unprotected).

Eh, the Warriors haven't done much since he left either. They needed each other to be the best in the West. KD was the best player on those Warrior teams no doubt, but gets shyt on by people because he was a huge ppussy for taking the easiest way out. He still dominated on those teams, and they easily beat the Raptors for a 3peat if KD doesn't go down.

I would dispute that KD was "no doubt" the best player on the 2017 Warriors team. They were substantially equals IMO. KD was better in 2018 by a slight margin. But because Curry can make a shot from anywhere, he commanded a lot of defensive attention, which gave KD more open shots. We saw this year when KD is heavily defended, even with Kyrie, he was less effective.

What cannot be disputed is Curry has won a Championship as the clear #1 without KD, while KD has zero rings without Curry. So while you may claim KD took the "easiest way out," in fact it's been his only way out (for a ring). And if Curry wins another ring this year, it will further cement the thinking that KD needed Curry to win a ring but not the other way around.

Shaq had comfortably established himself as an ATG and never needed Wade to establish that.

Sure, but Shaq during his prime went from Penny to Kobe to Wade, with no interruptions.
No big man in history had this kind of luxury, and we know how often centers can be limited if they have not enough perimeter creation around them (with the only exception of Hakeem and now likely Jokic).
Shaq would have won as much as Robinson in his career, in his position.

He's one of the greats and outbattled LeBron a couple times 1:1 in the finals. no matter how much he gets trolled, nobody can take that away.

trading for Harden was just a terrible idea otherwise Brooklyn would likely be in the ECF right now with their previous pre-Harden squad.

Outbattling Lebron 1:1 while the opposing team can't afford more than single coverage on you because you're the second best player on your team isn't saying much.

Durant should just understand that most of this noise and stupidity in the media is just part of the show, to keep the interest high enough to generate those immense revenues that end up paying his salary and build his brand.
You just need to select what deserves your attention and what doesn't. Shaq doesn't, he's not watching enough NBA nowadays to give you knowledgeable inputs and, on top of that, he's not eloquent enough to let them come through.

To be fair it was Shaq going there that led to the Heat acquiring the rest of that championship team. Antoine Walker, Jason Williams, Gary Payton, etc. Otherwise the Heat would have remained a young up and coming team with Wade, Odom, Butler, and Brian Grant. So they can both thank each other.

Yea it’s fairly obvious Durant is haunted by a few things at least. Otherwise he would be spending all his free time arguing with random kids online about his legacy  Hell one of the reasons he left Golden State is because he was haunted that folks didn’t think his rings were real and that they don’t count unless he wins “on his own”. Dude is one of the best players ever, but also probably the most sensitive superstar ever.
