Nets/Pistons/Blazers

Post#1 » by Blazers20 » Thu May 19, 2022 6:22 pm

BRK: 7th Pick-Bledsoe-Hart
DET: Ant-2025 1st (MIL)
POR: Simmons-Grant

BRK: Expiring contract, can sign a free agent of their liking. Keep or trade Hart but he’s an effort guy. Keep or trade the 7th pick.

DET: Ant fits next to Cade and a future 1st. Part of their rebuild.

POR: Dame gets 2 players he would like to play with.

Blazers say yes, Det probably says yes, Brooklyn says no. Detroit needs to send way more value to Brooklyn.

Who the f**k wants ANY part of Ben Simmons?? Hard NO from me because we have no idea which Ben we're getting and even if he's "trying", he's too pouty for my taste.
Excuse me please, one more drink

I don't think Portland was on Ben's "approved" list of cities and we know what happens when Ben is not happy. From a talent aspect I would say absolutely, but the guy is a ticking time bomb...

The last thing Portland needs is to trade for another guy to sit on the sidelines in street clothes

I feel like so many are undervaluing Josh Hart. Why would you want some loser like Ben Simmons?

Josh has been putting up at TS% of better than 60% which is really good. He's efficient, plays hard, he's not a defensive liability....

I only think this deal is even feasible if Simmons can get really excited about playing with Dame. Otherwise it's a hard no for me because I bet he would cause immense problems.

We have seen prima donna Ben Simmons and he can be a huge problem on and off the court with his bull.

I think it would be less pressure for Ben to play in Portland than Brooklyn.

First off you can't include this year's draft pick in a s&t as the draft happens before free agency.
Second this would be a vast overpay at this point. Simmons is damaged goods until he proves he is both willing and able to play. Remember his contract is for over $30 million per year. And Grant is worth a mid first( somewhere between 12-18). So giving up Anfernee, Hart and a lottery pick is way too much.

Simmons+Grant+Nurkic would be our best group of bigs since Brian Grant and Sheed. Moving Ant and Hart creates a big weakness in our back court.

Simmons is solid but id want him on the cheap not like this. I wouldn’t pay much for simmons because he’s clearly got stuff going on and is a serious question mark going forward. if you believe he plays maybe it’s worth it. If not i’d rather deal dame and build around the likely less talented (hard to top dames resume) albeit much younger anf. But definitely wouldn’t deal dame for this package of course

It's a bad look when he hasn't even played a single minute as a Net, so apparently the issues weren't just that he was a Sixer and felt that it was a bad situation.

If he is already having major injury issues making it harder for him to play games at age 25, I can only imagine the issues as he ages. Not to mention whatever mental issues might be making it harder for him to play games.

I’d do it.

It’s a franchise changing move; either it works and we do some damage in the PO or (more likely) it fails spectacularly and we go right into rebuild mode.

Win-win.

There are far more economical ways to go into rebuild mode for new ownership will not be pleased
seeing Simmons sitting on the sidelines in street clothes.

Team could simply go into a rebuild where the team drafts BPA at 7 and make the team more
functional by using the Bledsoe contract and their TPE to shore up needs at PF. Team would likely
resemble the SA Spurs and would go into the 2023 draft with a mid lottery pick, deep in 3D type
talent.

As Dame's game begins to decline, Portland's team would have Ant, Hart, Nurkic, Little, 2022 pick,
2023 pick and others and no unnecessary contracts on their books, giving the team some room
under the tax line to make moves when its to the team's advantage. No more need to make stupid
trades to cut salary in preparation for a sale of the team.
