White is 20 times better defensively than Mike Conley. No more smurfs.

This!

Anybody who wins the West will/would have home court vs. the Celtics. Even the Mavs, by a single game.

Thankfully we've been playing well on the road!

Giannis (55.2% TS% in 2022 playoffs, 51.6% TS% vs. Cs) and KD (52.6% TS%) just had their worst true shooting percentage in the playoffs since their rookie seasons. The Celtics defense did that.

I'm with him.
Tatum & Brown are NOT Jordan & Pippen.
BUT,
They are the Closest Duo to them, currently in the NBA.

Re: Official Celtics 2021-22 Post-Season Thread, 2nd Edition
Milwaukee series was an interesting W for us.. would've been closer with everyone healthy (Middleton, TimeLord), but.. I have us right now at about Milwaukee's tier - one superstar (Tatum/Giannis), one second star scorer (Jaylen/Middleton), "star" point guard (Jrue beats out Smart/White on offense, but their combo and defense are neck and neck), mix of role players. Milwaukee has more shooting and more size, but... that's a nice, nice tier for us to be in.
Tatum's going to keep getting better - so's Jaylen, who's probably better than Middleton now. Grant and Rob are younger than Portis/Lopez, we've got Theis and Horford behind them short-term, Nesmith looks like he's waiting in the wings now..
Our medium-long-term looks bright 1-6: Smart/Brown/Tatum/Grant/Rob/White, Pritchard's a nice 7. Danger is that two stars aren't enough, Milwaukee won last season but they've been up and down year to year - they needed that Jrue trade. Portland's the cautionary tale.

It’s an easy narrative to say that the Bucks would have won with Kris Middleton playing since they took us to 7 games. We really outplayed the Bucks in all 6 games after they dominated game 1 but that is usually what it takes to topple a champion. KM was having a subpar playoff against Bulls averaging 14 ppg but he has a history as Celtic killer. Would the sense of urgency been greater for Cs or would the length of Bucks been too much? I personally think the Cs are better but the Bucks were more ready and probably would have prevailed. In any event, the Cs beat the team in front of them.

Feel sorry for the Family.
I've met Rondo, at a Basketball Event for children. He's got a really bad personality.

Re: Official Celtics 2021-22 Post-Season Thread, 2nd Edition
Tatum should work on his foul-baiting technique. He adopted a similar style as Harden's, which is now rarely called. Use his body/shoulder more while still staying upright, the way Butler does instead of putting the ball way infront of him to be slapped.
Brown could still improve his ballhandling and passing off double-teams/traps. White needs to knock down open jumpers more consistently. Grant, ballhandling and driving closeouts. Nesmith, defending without fouling and shooting. Timelord, midrange shooting and some moves in deep post/restricted area. Needs to be a scoring threat and not just another Rudy Gobert.

It’s not a large sample size but the ideas of moving Grant to the starting lineup to replace Al next season look a lot better when Grant is producing off the bench than when he actually gets a start the last 5 games (game 7 completely excluded from that of course). Just expected more I guess.

I don't think the Celts will let Al go next season.
It's one more season of Al Horford.

Horford and Grant will likely both be on team next Season. -- I can see them sharing time at the PF.
Horford can also play Center pretty effectively. It all will come down to Matchup, and Health.
In any event, we will need an Al Horford-type replacement, at some point.

Re: Official Celtics 2021-22 Post-Season Thread, 2nd Edition
Our young nucleus which is entering its prime - Smart, Tatum, Brown, Grant, RW3 - have been to playoffs every year they have been in NBA. Horford has been to playoffs 15/17 seasons in NBA. This team is going to be a big problem for any good team in the East for the next 5 years.

Milwaukee outside of Giannis is old. Harden might continue to regress and I'm not too worried about the Celtics handling Embiid in the playoffs anyway. Irving and Durant aren't getting any younger and they have an entire rotation to reconfigure with very limited assets. Toronto and Cleveland have good defenses and intriguing young pieces but they lack a truly high end creator in the halfcourt. Miami is probably going to keep hanging around but Butler/Lowry/Tucker have a ton of miles on their bodies. This was Udoka and Stevens first year on the job, having to adjust the roster on the fly. Tatum gets better every year. This should be the year Boston is most vulnerable for a while.
