Hope not, he has been a Badger likely commit for about 2 years now. But you never know in this day and age in college mercenary ball.

I don't think this is true.

He started getting the "Baby Jokic" stuff in the beginning of HS and got a bunch of big-time attention and went elsewhere to try to showcase his skills/"play up" to be ready for it. Seemed too big for the Badgers.

I basically just follow the recruiting guys on twitter, but I hadn't heard his name for a year or two because I think he was going for bigger and better things until his stock came back down to Wisconsin level.

He's been listed as a "warm" option for the badgers for about 2 years on rivals/scout. That's usually a very good sign. They've had strong interactions for at least that period or more. But yeah, if he blew up, he could have been in play for other programs like Herro did. However, Herro was always a much higher regarded recruit.

I am a supporter of the crystal ball features on those sites as something of interest but not gospel.

That warm/cool/hot thing is completely useless. I highly doubt somebody is going in there and continuously updating the temperature of Gus Yalden and Wisconsin's recruiting relationship. Somebody probably turned it on to that 2 years ago and never touched it.

maybe, just check interviews with him. He has been a Badger fan, local product. To those that say geography doesn't matter, it clearly influenced this signing. He is from Appleton, had pictures with Frank Kaminsky, went to the Kohl Center and Camp Randall a ton... dude has wanted to be a Badger since before he was a prospect. I'd say the prognosticators knew this.

All things being equal, sure, "in-state recruiting" is a nice tiebreaker.

In football you might be taking in 3 WRs in a class, guys might not mind sitting 1-2 years, etc. and outside of scheme stuff, guys generally are cool with staying home so their parents can come to their games or whatever.

Basketball...I'm sure Diamond Stone or Looney or Herro, especially Jalen Johnson all liked the Badgers growing up. Who cares? Coach K calls with a briefcase full of cash, you go.

Yalden might have thought he was of that ilk for a while.

But if you aren't a 5-star guy, then it comes down to a whole slew of things. Does this guy fit your roster? It's not football where you can keep taking 2 offensive tackles every class and find a way for them on the field. You only get to take one PF or C every 2-3 years. If Wahl or Crowl were freshmen, it's possible he doesn't want to compete there. Does the guy think he fits and like UW's scheme? If all of those boxes are checked, then yes, the hometown kid will want to choose Wisconsin instead of going to Texas Tech or whatever.

Way I see it is, is that Gus Yalden, that guy, he's just a Wisconsin guy. Flat out.

There are still probably a lot of transfers out there, but really seem to be having a hard-time finding their next Vogt. Hope they can or we'll be a bit thin in the frontcourt.

I feel like both forgot to do April Fools jokes and this is what they came up with after realizing they were two months late with only an hour to think of something.

Yea doesn't do much for me, I guess its an even/spectacle. But, just do it at Fiserv. I suppose it's early enough that it shouldn't be super cold and can still get some tailgaiting/football aspects to it. But it's pretty big meh for me.

Unless you're sitting courtside for this, there is no draw. The viewing is going to be horrific, the ticket prices are probably going to be stupid and while I'm sure they'll have video of the game on the scoreboard, it hardly makes the cost worth it. It would be worth it for like the Final Four or something, not some random non-conference game in the middle of November.

Probably a dumb idea outside of the tailgating novelty. Whatever, they'll make their money in TV revenue regardless, some Milwaukee people will have a shorter trip to a game, and this game would've drawn an actual attendance of like 8k at the Kohl Center, anyways.

This would have actually been a super fun event to have at SummerFest. Think of a way to get about 5-6K people around a basketball court. Have it around dinner time. That would have been super fun.

Anyone who buys tickets to go to this event, as constituted, to watch Travis Diener and Kirk Penny (or whoever they throw out there) I mean, LOL, more power to you I guess. I've played against some of these guys in Madison rec leagues. Its not that special.

I think there's some alumni charity event being put together too of UW, Marq, and UWM in a 3 on 3 or something. Saw something that Brust is playing in it and I think I Diener/Novak were in the tweet too. He must be confusing the two things.

Also, IDK a major conf non conference opponent like Stanford probably does fine at the KC, close to normal. Not like Stanford is East Illinois poly tech

Now that I read up on both events, I stand by my claim that having an alumni tourney (UWM, UW, Marq, etc) at Summerfest could be fun.

Having a Badger game at (formerly) Miller Park is an insanely bad idea.
