The biggest issue with Chet is when you view him as a center. If you think he will be a 5, do not draft him #1. But if you think he is a long term 4 (like me) playing a lot on the wing, I think Chet stands above the rest. The only thing holding him back is his body but you could have said the same for Durant/Giannis going into the draft.

Chet is a forward as of now and I don't think he has the build to transform into a C in long term. Question with him is wether he will be injury prone and will he be bullied by NBA PFs on the block (how many PFs play on the block today anyway?) and can he keep up on perimeter.

It is very difficult for me not to base my entire draft strategy around a 5 second clip of him shaking and baking Steph. This is why I'm not a GM.

Well I did some google search yesterday to check out Dirk pics in 1998 when he was drafted, sure he is not as slim as Chet, but still looks comparable. A skilled 7 footer worked out well for Dallas not to mention that Dirk never was much of a defender of shot blocker.

Sorry but not close. Chet will easily be the skinniest 7'1 player ever drafted top 3.

People don't realize that Dirk was putting up big numbers against Team USA as a 19 year old...there is no way Chet would be doing that.

Jake Fischer of the Bleacher report:
"early word among rival executives and league personnel at this week’s NBA Draft Combine suggests a strong possibility Orlando will favor Gonzaga 7-footer Chet Holmgren."

Well, Dirk avaraged like 8 ppg during his rookie season, it took some time for him to get going

Well, if you also added their slight builds to all 3, that would be a stat.

KG played SF his rookie season. Until he gains some muscle play him at SF or PF.

The Turk / Shard duo comparisons are nice but how good is your team without a Dwight-like star, if those 2 are your best players?

I really try to love Jabari, but the more footage i watch and see his combination of slow 1st step, stiffness and ballhandling makes me want Chet even more.

The more I watch clips of Smith turn the ball over in traffic or fail to convert at the rim, the more I start to favor Paolo Banchero over him. The one dimensional aspect of Smith makes me nervous. He's not going to bust. I think Smith is going to be really good. But, I think you're looking for a franchise changing player at #1. I think that player should be a little more dynamic on offense.

I just heard a good point about Chet. In the final 6 games as the competition got better, Chet fouled out 3 times, had 4 fouls twice, and only played over 30 minutes once.

In theory, once Chet gets around big quicker athletes he just won't be able to hang. It's a natural reaction to try to hold onto someone that's bigger and quicker.
