Man, that was an absolute massive choke by Dallas in game 2. Its gonna take alot for them to mentally get over that loss. They couldnt play any better and still lost.

You arent gonna have many games where 3 guys score almost 100 points and you knock down 21 threes. You HAVE to win those games. I dont think Mavs have 3 players combine for 94 points ever again, not only in these playoffs, but EVER. They had to win that.

That would be interesting to read. The eye test would say Luka and the Mavs initial adjustment worked, followed by Kerr's re-adjustment that countered it late in the game.

yup, just snuck it in before the deadline of the last thread, but this is correct. Mavs (correctly based on results, FWIW) saw that Curry and Looney were the 2 best options in the prior game, based on results. If they'd done a deeper dive, they would have seen that Klay was actually way worse than Looney, but was frequently saved by help defense. But anyways, they chose to hunt Curry with Bullock, it worked, we moved Curry to DFS, Kidd incorrectly chose to try Looney instead of Klay... that's ballgame

And while people might flay Kidd for that, and lord knows I want to because I think he's a total POS, even well beyond his publicized personal life (takes a lot for me to trash a Cal alum).. I dont think he did poorly. I think it was a great chess match between Kidd and Kerr or Mike Brown, probably Brown tbh. I expect Kidd to learn and adjust again, so we'd better be ready

Luka is alot bigger then I thought. Hes visibly much bigger then Draymond.

His mix of height, skill and weight just make him unguardable by anyone unless you are prime LeBron.

We need the Warriors to play Damion Lee some more minutes, if that's possible.

Am i one of the few who thinks they played horrible? 2nd half obviously :D ... It was similar with PHX, in first 2 games you could say that they had great 1st half and then completely collapsed in the 2nd half. So in theory, this is nothing new for them lol. I think they'll show their real face tomorrow.

Ha.

I was just about to post my game 3 bullet point(s)

*Forget Damion Lee owns a Warriors jersey.

He's our Ntilikina, and Moody is more than capable of shoring up those minutes. Andre and GP2 can't return soon enough.

Curry, KD and Klay combined for 93 points in a game once. Thats their high. Dallas just had 3 guys combine for 94 and they still lost. I still cant get over how incredible that stat is.

Ok so I couldn’t reply before about my post with Luka having trouble with the words. Yea I know English is like his 5th language; that was literally the title of the post I got it from. In no way did I add my own commentary to it

I don't think they played as bad as people think in the 2nd half.
Well at least not on offense, they were just missing tons of open shots but the quality of shots wasn't much different. Outside of Luka, the Mavs shot 4/13 on 3s in the 2nd half, mostly open shots they made earlier.
Sure they sucked on defense.

Game 2 breakdown (1 is in spoilers for comparison):
Spoiler:
Results on Luka Doncic:
boring stuff: (note: these results were done by going over game film and used categories/process established in 2016)

So a quick legend:
QAO: Quality Assist Opportunity - whether or not the player's actions created an immediate or eventual assist opportunity, defined as a quality shot (3 ft+ open jumper; a layup or dunk; or any otherwise quality shot). Every actual assist is, by default, a QAO.
KO: Kick out - a pass that did not result in a QAO but effectively reset the offense; typically an attempt at driving that provides no results
CP: Cycle pass - a pass that did not result in a QAO; any pass that keeps the offense moving
Opps: Opportunities - when a defensive player is the primary defender on a certain offensive player. Can be multiple opportunities per touch due to screens, switches, etc

Last night Luka had 64 non-inbounds touches; and from those 64 touches, there were a total of 82 opportunities spread out between 6 Warriors players.

Wiggins: 48/82 (58.5%)
Looney: 14/82 (17.1 %)

Notes:

- Jordan Poole is the worst hedging defender I've ever seen

- Looney only had 6 opps but 3 were consecutive and devastating to the Mavs
- Mavs need to attack Curry and Klay if they want to win. Everyone else is holding their ground or doing great work

Keeping going inside and its 3-0 series. Pretty simple game plan . Mavs have nothing stop from teams driving on the inside.

Defense is where i also see a huge improvement moving forward. Obviously GSW are looking to be a harder opponent than Suns but i think Mavs could do a significantly better job on defense. Also, continue making open shots, they can't stop their assault after 24 minutes of game.
Brunson having only 10 points in the 2nd half and a complete no show from Dinwiddie could be something Mavs can adjust or fix for game 3. I honestly believe GSW played insanely good and it's hard to see them playing even better. 56% FG, 50% from 3 and 80% FT while also outrebounded the Mavs by 13. It's hard to top that.
