Might as well just bring on PJ Brown while we're at it

Celtics are hard carried by their role players - Smart, Horford, 2x Williams. Put Tatum and Brown in Bucks and they lose to Bulls first round. Put Giannis and Middleton in Celtics and they are literally sweeping these playoffs. OK, if Steph or Klay get hot, maybe lose one game.

Don't worry. The Knicks hired an ex Nike guy as the other scout, so now they are really top of the heap, scouting wise.

By the way, I have no idea if having excellent vs good scouts makes a difference.

I mean on the face of it, the better a scout is, the better the information that a FO receives.
On the other hand, it feels like given the limited number of NBA scouting positions available, most of the scouts are pretty good.
Seems like there are enough guys out there who can do the job well, and it's more the ability of the FO to process the information that matters.

Guess this a way of saying it doesn't really matter who the scouts are, for the most part, since guys like Leon Rose, WWW, Scott Perry and ultimately Dolan, are making decisions.

Anyway, link to the articles for those who care

One Knick scout, Walker Russel, went on to scout for the Mavs, so maybe he was good.

all that scouting brain-trust they acquired -- would amount to nothing if the head decision makers keep making the wrong choices and not use the data collected from scouts

When you have a guy at the top of the heap clamoring they pick the kentucky guy regardless of competence level, that does not instill confidence at all. Not saying that UK guys are hot trash, its just that other bball programs can also produce top quality players

2017 draft 8-10 picks:
Frank Ntilikina
DSJ
Zach Collins

11-14 picks:
Malik Monk
Luke Kennard
Donovan Mitchell
Bam

Much better to be in that 2nd group, no one ever says we should have won more games.

Fack you’re so right. Damn if we swapped places with Miami, they would have been forced to draft Frank! Or maybe Utah…we could have forced them to draft Frank and then other people who have been forced to draft Kennard and crap, leaving Donovan to us.

Hmm could it be that if a team like Miami drafted higher, they might still draft Bam that high? Mindblownnnnnnn whoaaaaaaaa. Or maybe the fact that development plays a role?! Wtf it does?! No way.

Even if we drafted 14th we probably still would have drafted Knox. He was mostly projected as a mid round pick until it was leaked the Knicks would take him
Mavs
C: Horford | Goga | Paul Reed |
PF: Lauri Markkanen | Randle | Tucker
SF: Trey Murphy | Trent | Anderson | Simone
SG: Vassell | Trent | Livingston
PG: Spida | Mann | Deuce

Acting like Bam would have been the same Bam, D-Mitch the same D-Mitch etc. We would have destroyed Steph Curry even, Obi would have been the new Shawn Camp and dominated with dunks because Steph Curry never happened and the crazy 3 point shooting wasn't a thing.

A year earlier the Heat drafted Justice Winslow 10th over Devin Booker and never developed Winslow into anything special. I dont believe all lottery picks are equal and their destinations determine how good they will be.
