If J.Smith was really a modern Rashard Lewis, hell of a pick would be.

Shard was in seattle a 20-22 points 40% from outside....in the middle of "dead-ball"era;today would be a even more amazing offensive player.

If i'd be sure that J.smith would develop in a + 20points with 40% from 3s and very good defence,i'd pick him immediately.
The space he would provide would be amazing and would make other players so much better

Jabari is my pick because i don't have enough info on Sharpe and wouldn't have the balls to use our 1st pick on him

I keep watching video of Jabari s defense and can't see how we pass on a kid so young and so talented on both end of the floor.

And i m not even talking about his motor and work ethic

So which of those are against power conferences like ACC , SEC and which are the ivy league and uncle.bobs conferences?

Player A = ACC
Player B = WCC
Player C = SEC
He's also using per 40.

This is amazing if true. Jabari made 1.07 points per possession off the dribble which is in the 96th percentile. This is a 6'10 guy, not a little guard. He's probably the best off the dribble big to come along since Durant.

What's even more amazing is he was even better defensively giving up .7 ppp, that's in the 97th percentile.

It was all off 1-2 dribble jumpers. His two point percentage which encompasses his real lack of finishing ability would be dead last of all the top five picks in the last ten years. That does not scream Durant to me. He can really shoot the three but right now that is all he can do on offense. You only take him if you believe you have a real number one on the roster and we’ll I really love Franz, Fultz, and WCJ not one of them is anywhere close to a number one option. I would be fine if you had to fix just one thing because all these prospects are flawed but you have to fix the handle and the finishing for him to be an all nba player. I really like Jabari but that is not a sure thing. I think it might be easier for Chet to gain weight then for Jabari to become at least above average to be the guy
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

Anyone have a good resource to use and watch replays of the NCAA season?

I would definitely not put Chet changing his body in any significant way into your calculations. This kid has been on the NBA path for years and it's not like his physique hasn't raised eyebrows since middle school. Players of his level have been training and eating like pros for years...I used to go to a place called Davis Training Systems, where they would work with young kids hoping to earn scholarships in various sports...they built monsters there, some amazing results and a wall of scholarship offers to show for it. Parents investing early to get the payoff in a few years. They also trained pros, but the middle and HS kids were their bread and butter...I'm just saying that Chet's not going to get to the NBA and suddenly be introduced to protein powder...anyone will gain as they age, but I don't think he'll ever be not scrawny...he may still be an awesome player and even deceptively strong, but I'd put a lot more faith in teaching a 19 year old to dribble, cut, or shoot than I would in Chet filling out.

When I look at most of the great players in the NBA, they have two things in common, they can rise up and hit jumpers and they can defend.
.
Jabari will be guarding the team's best player and will probably be really good. When a game is on the line you'll be able to pass it to him and he'll get a good shot off.

Not flashy but if you look and game film of a player like Kawhi, that's what he does. Almost all his points are on jumpers with a couple of dribbles.

The greats are tall forwards who can handle the ball, dish the ball at times, play some defense ans score on all 3 levels.

Smith is a one level scorer with functional defense. That’s all.

Make the decision strictly off of leg size.

You make it sound like he's waiting for an open three on offense. He creates midrange shots and draws fouls. He has all-defensive team potential.

This is one of the more difficult #1 picks picks I can remember

I've been going forth on Jabari and Paolo for awhile now. Jabari seems like the safe pick and Paolo seems like the upside pick.

Rashard with strong perimeter defense is a really good comp for Jabari to me. It's hard to see him being a true #1 option if his finishing around the rim doesn't significantly improve. But a 6"10 high volume 40% 3pt shooter with strong defense that can D up the big wings of today's NBA is really valuable. He has a really high floor

I've been a Paolo truther all season. His shot creation, handle, and playmaking at his size can't be taught. He takes a lot of tough shots off the dribble, I think he will continue to develop into a capable shooter. He really put it all together as the season went on, he had some really nice moments passing the ball and setting up his teammates (he had some great chemistry with Mark Williams). Franz will get a lot off easy buckets with his off-ball cutting ability playing next to Paolo. However, he definitely has some bust potential if his shot never improves and he doesn't develop into a net neutral defender

The gravity of having a great shooter will open up the perimeter whether he is making shots or not. We've been a bad 3 pt. shooting team since we made those runs with Dwight.

Can we stop comparing guys to all-time greats (both positively and negatively) and saying if they don't match up to Durant or LeBron or etc they shouldn't be drafted? I don't get those comparisons pre-draft.

Also, we need to consider the fact that most drafts WILL NOT have hall of fame top 40 players of all time. Sometimes the best outcome is "uber Rashard Lewis" or "Melo-lite", or hell, if Chet becomes like a bigger Andrei Kirilenko or something. You then pick the player you think will actually get to whatever level their ceiling will be.

Question...What does Jabari do if the shot doesn’t fall? How does he get points?

Do you understand what it means to be a 3 level scorer?

If his shot is not falling Jabari is not much use offensively. But his on ball defense impresses me. He could fill a role similar to Mikal Bridges. Very valuable asset.

I just don’t think you draft that at 1.

If Chet gets enough strength to stay injury free and develops even more, you miss out on a player who changes your franchise.

No. You take him if you believe he is the best player available in THIS draft. Doesn´t matter if he is no Durant or Lebron or whatever. If he´s best player in THIS draft, we should take him.
