Re: 2022 NBA DRAFT
They have Mark Williams at 17, Houston is picking 17, and they are picking #2, have Sengun and have Wood, I'd attempt to trade the #26 for wither Sengun or Williams with future pick.
I really don't want to draft a project.

Man if they gave up Sengun that would be something. Wood feels like a goner but not sure I'd want him solely on his attitude issues.KhalilS wrote:They have Mark Williams at 17, Houston is picking 17, and they are picking #2, have Sengun and have Wood, I'd attempt to trade the #26 for wither Sengun or Williams with future pick.

They're picking at #3, and probabely getting a big, if their pick is offensively oriented (Banchero), they don't need Sengun, if he's defensively oriented (Chet or Smith), they wouldn't need Williams, so I'd try to pick something them.
I'd also call the Knicks and aske them to trade the 23 pick for #26 + 2 2nds.

NBADraft.net has the Mavs taking Jaylin Williams at 26.
6'10 PF/C - 1st team SEC All Defense
NBA Comparison: Bobby Portis/Elden Campbell
Strengths: A relentless, versatile center who is built for the modern game with his disruptiveness and defensive acumen … Top of the key offensive initiator with great court vision and powerful, accurate passing leading to 2.6 assists per game his sophomore season … High-level athlete who can put the ball on the floor and play mobile on both ends of the floor … Has the potential to expand his range beyond the 3-point line … Boxes out well with the size and length to be a great rebounder … Averaged nearly 10 rebounds per game at Arkansas this season … Extremely smart defender who was the best player in the nation at rotating over and drawing charges … It is an understatement to call him a pesky defender … Defensive versatility is his greatest strength as he can guard just about any player on the floor, allowing his team to switch anything … High motor player who sets the tone defensively and has the stamina to play for long stretches. Averaged nearly 32 minutes per game for the Razorbacks and significantly improved in staying out of foul trouble … Williams fouled nearly five times per 40 minutes as a freshman and reduced this to 3.3 fouls per 40 minutes as a sophomore … Active hands on entry passes … Isn’t afraid to put his body into opponents in the post on both ends … Meets players at the rim as he averaged over a block per game … Creates chaos and turnovers on defense with 54 drawn charges and 48 steals on the season … Showed out against elite big men like Chet Holmgren, Drew Timme and Mark Williams in the NCAA Tournament … Will give you everything he has whenever he is on the floor and simply knows how to win and make players better around him

I hate these all praise scouting reportswhere's the catch? Why is he projected at #26?

Weaknesses: Is comfortable shooting on the perimeter and has the potential to be a capable threat, but that won’t come instantly at the next level and will probably need a few years to get to that point … Extremely hesitant to shoot outside of the paint … Averaged nearly two turnovers per game … It’s reasonable to expect more than a block per game from a player who roamed the paint as much as he did, so we might not see the same shot blocking prowess at the next level with longer and stronger athletes … Won’t put up great scoring numbers during his career, as most teams will solely desire his defensive traits and production … Doesn’t fear contact but could still get a little stronger …

Likely undrafted candidate Worth a look. Might be a missing piece in rough.
Low dollar investment like Moses Brown

Looks like Powell 2.0.
Local kid.
4.7 ppg in a small/weak conference is pretty telling though.

Curious where people think this guy is taken. He would be a good player to gamble on since we have a few guys already who are 6'10" that can hit 3's and in an age when real centers are not as valued I think you will see teams drafting guys who are weak on their inside game since they want to stretch the game to open it up for drives by having a center who is a threat from the 3 point line. So I think you need to go for an unstoppable force that can rage against the other teams who will not put forth much resistance on the inside. With our 3 point game and perimeter D this guy would feast on other teams weak interiors.

Re: 2022 NBA DRAFT
I would trade down with Orlando to get 2 guys instead of 1 if I could not buy a high second round pick.
Then I would get 2 centers to double my odds of getting a keeper and enable us to take a gamble on Kofi the guy above. Kofi and a more athletic center who can shoot some from the 3 point line so that you can match up with anyone and even play both with the stretch C playing PF. You never know when the game will change back to how it used to be played so being prepared is always wise. Orlando Robinson would be who I would want first then add Kofi.If I were cuban I would pay to trade up to insure I get my guy.

Re: 2022 NBA DRAFT
The challenge of getting a center (especially) late in the draft is the time you need to develop him to NBA level. Which is about 2 years away from being ready. The thing is, I do not think Cuban is that patient. We've all known him for a while now. He'd rather get starters via trade oe signings. Then maybe draft bench pieces who can be sent to the G league. Eugene Omoyuri might even be more NBA ready than who the Mavs get at 26.

Actually, this player start playing basketball at 18 yo. And is elite in measurement and athleticism.
In limited minutes, 2.4 blocks per game. That's something Powell might never do.
For the rebounding problem, most of them is about the skinny frame. Need to bulk up for better blocking out.
As the playing off is getting physical, I think it's wise to find this kind of diamond in rough.
I think it's actually even easier to adopt to zone defense system for a player isn't getting used to man defense with off the chart athleticism and measurement.
Certainly worth the TWC spot. As it's either 56 pick or undrafted, I think there's next to no risk.

Oh absolutely worth a look.
That type of athleticism is rare at that height, and he could become a nice development piece.
One thing Mavs fans have to realize though is that we are no longer a team that will have the luxury of developing players.
We are definitely in win-now mode so it will be difficult for young guys to get much of an opportunity in meaningful games.
One of the reasons why I think we should consider moving Green if a rebuilding team still thinks he has some value. I'm not sure the Mavs will give him much of an opportunity next season and if they do it will be a small window.

Leonard Miller could be a absolute steal in 2nd round. 6-10 frame with 7-2 wingspan. Can contribute on both ends. With some PG skills, too. Truthfully comparable to Kawhi's starting kits.

Butler would be nice alongside Luka. Image Dirk around with Luka. You get the scenario. Even if defensive deficiencies, you get more rhythm with natural shooter in lineup with less TO. We can find defender with MLE.
