Horst has done a fantastic job. But for the past four years the title has been won (or lost) by moves made by teams at the trade deadline. Horst (and Bud and Lasry) just didn't make good moves this past year, now that we have the season in hindsight.
Just going off the top of my head:
Portis - I think pretty undeniably a good signing considering he really should have gotten more money
Grayson - I preferred keeping the pick for Herb, but I think Grayson filled in nicely almost the whole year. Unfortunately he crashed and burned in our last series but it happens with role players here and there.
Ibaka - I don’t think Donte swings the Celtics series and I think getting what you could for him was probably the right move but this was undeniably a bad trade in retrospect (and wasn’t good in the moment either IMO).
I also disliked the Hill, Hood, and Semi signings and the latter two were obvious a complete disaster while Hill was fine when he played for the most part but struggled to say the least against Boston and just wasn’t a good signing even in the moment IMO.
