Series aint over, till it's over. Team up 3-0 could lose their best player to an injury which could completely turn the series upside down. God forbid something happens to Curry tonight, but if he was to go down I'd pick the Mavs to win the series.

Of course not and it's not a matter of if, but when a team comes back from down 0-3. It eventually will happen.

Hell no! What if the star player on the leading team gets hurt in game 3?

Ain’t that a circumstance that every team would have to face?

Happened more than once in hockey and a couple times in baseball. Anything can happen when you have factors like injuries, the 3 point line or some player just getting hot at the right moment.

The sweep is anything but automatic. Teams have to earn it. If the team leading 3-0 shows up to play a "meh game" then they have not learned how to close teams out. Therefore, they do not deserve what another team has earned.
3-0 is pretty much 1 win from 3-1 and theres been numerous reverse sweeps even recent. 3-0 doncic probably enjoys the moment like a creep but most stars arent built for it. harden, lebron probably dont like playing behind let them forfeit
Doncic will be goat. Lauri will be his sidekick.

Just make it best of 5 then, horrible idea.
Imo, 1st round at the very least should be best of 5 with an argument for the 2nd. No need to watch an 8th seed get steamrolled in 7.

Didn't LeBron's Cavs mount the only 3-1 comeback in NBA Finals history against a record-setting 73-win Warriors team?

No...even ignoring revenue, etc.
Team A is in a dog fight, series goes 6 or 7.
Team B wins in 4...which could now be 3?
Just has too much impact on schedules and rest. I'd support 5 game series over 7 with a mercy rule.

One of the worst games to watch in the NBA playoffs is game 4 when a team is up 3-0. The team down 3-0 is discouraged and the team up 3-0 is likely going to play a meh game. It's a game that should be eliminated. Plus, how awesome would the game 3s be if a team is down 2-0? It'd feel like game 7. It would also put more emphasis on the first 2 games, making each game in the series much more enjoyable.
Yes or no?
No one day a team will choke a 3-0 lead and it will be glorious.

I actually like it. Home crowd in game 3 would be on fire. More value in the reg season finish. Should do it when the season goes to the soccer schedule and conferences are no more. When they put the quality of games #1. Should be soon.

or why even play a game?
Just pit the two teams together, compare their reg season stats at each position, run the numbers through some AI program, and have it tell you who wins between the two.

Imagine your team makes the playoffs and you manage to score some great seats to game 4, then they win the first three. Do you still want to cancel the series?

Why not just skip a Game 4 if you’re sure it’s going to be horrible?
Besides, if I had tickets to a Game 4 and my team went down 3-0, I’d still go.

Raptors went down 0-3 this year then came back to extend the series to 6 games; those 3 extra games probably generated over 10M for the league, so to answer the OP no.
