To be clear that doesn't change his salary. When you have incentives in a NBA contract, you only get paid if you reach the related benchmarks for the current year. This doesn't apply here because Timelord's extension starts next year. However, incentives are divided in likely (if you reached the benchmarks in the prior year) and unlikely (if you don't) incentives and only likely incentives incur a cap hit. So Robert Williams would need to get to the same benchmarks next year to actually get paid. Otherwise he'll be in a situation where his cap hit > his real salary.

I thought we could beat the heat without him but clearly I was wrong.

No Timelord more like Time-to-man-up.. We might never have this time again.

If we're talking about just some pain or discomfort he's gotta be out there, this is the finals. Don't think we'll need him as much against a potential Golden State matchup.

This is timelords fatal flaw, he is hurt too much. I geuess there is swelling around the knee again, its unfortunate, we will see if he can play through it, we need him at full force, especially if smart is hurt.

We obviously need him to advance to the finals. Game 5 is the series decider imo.

Robert Williams.
I'd venture to say,
8 out of 10 posters would've voted bust over stud
at the time of the Celtics drafting him.
His success, and where he stands now,
Is imo one of the great Boston sports stories.

I can't even imagine the tolerance of pain of these professional athletes.

I first wanted him on the court to "gain valuable post season experience.". Changed it to "rw3 is the x factor.". But give me a break, 80m extension, play back to back ecf games, dear God.

I think it's the decider if we win, but maybe not so much if we lose. Game 6 Tatum is a thing we've seen before, and I'm happy to ride with the guys in a game 7 any day.

I don't trust this team to get it done in Miami for game 7. Win 5 and 6 is where i'm at.

Bust, I don't know. But I'm confident 8 out of 10 posters were concerned with his injuries, and should still be concerned with his injury situation. Can't play back to back ecf games? What is this summer league?

Timelord is a great player, but availability is the best ability. If we manage to win a chip because Rob was there on the court when we needed him most, then I'm happy to declare him a Celtics lifer. Otherwise, I don't personally have any issue with seeking out alternatives for his position (not saying there are any out there, just saying I'd be looking personally).

I was the only poster here who actually predicted we'd draft him.

I incorrectly thought we'd trade up to do so. In my defense, management shared the error. They tried to trade up, failed, and him drop in their laps anyway.

Ya Rob has always been a STUD ! a legit top 10 pick. His FT% and medical history were his only real knocks ....so proud of big Rob at the FT line, he is not a liability there at all !

we need him to win Gm5 ! break this wild back-and-forth evil series spell ....win 2 in a row
