Much needed there. Pity that Espinal didn't manage a hit, but he drove in a run, and I'm happy with that.

Let's hope games like this start happening more.

I am not a guy who likes to make a move for the sake of making a move, but I hope management makes a trade to shake things up. I am not sure if those Juan Soto rumours are true, but he would fit great on this team. It will cost some of our top prospects, but I am inclined to look at that. Soto in the outfield also means no Tapia or Zimmer in the lineup, and would be a solid left handed bat in the lineup. If Soto's price is too steep, this team needs to DFA Zimmer, Tapia, Capra and bring in fresh blood from AAA to shake things up. Maybe call up Moreno up sooner rather than later, and give other guys a chance at this point. I would prefer to fire our moron manager, but for some reason Shapiro and Atkins think he is the Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread, the way they talk about Montoyo.

A few things:

- Soto is the pipe dream to end all pipe dreams. The Nationals are not trading a 23 year old superstar with two more years of team control after 2022 for 'some of' our top prospects. And even if they were so inclined, it would be at the deadline, not in May.

- There is some irony in suggesting DFAing Capra in order to 'shake things up' by bringing up fresh blood in AAA. Capra was one of our most major league ready AAA bats (though a low ceiling guy...most of them are) as of a few weeks ago. I also very much doubt that having a mediocre AAA guy on the bench will send ripples through the team that makes them have a better batting average on balls in play with RISP.

- They talk well about the manager because it'd be idiotic to start blasting him publicly, whether they agree with him or not. A nice bit of fan service, but there's a reason why the "vote of confidence" is a universal joke in sports: all managers enjoy the unshakable faith of the front office right up until the minute they're canned, because undermining your manager accomplishes nothing at all. Should we fire Montoyo, though? Absolutely. But just do the damned thing.

The only way we have a chance at Soto is including Vladdy Jr and that's not happening.
