Because of all the injuries many of our guys were forced into roles that they were not well suited for. When you have a squad that can't shoot, it kinda makes you want to be a ball hog and jack up a lot of shots. I'd like to see how he plays with our team at full strength before judging him!

He's also a hero wannabe .. but in a good way. He's never the one to be shy about it and shrink under pressure.... But I think winning is his number one goal... Though to a fault.
As players return and he doesn't feel like he needs to shoulder more pressure... He will move accordingly. I think he will be good to go next season... Season 3. Not as good on the statistical totals... But efficiencies I think will be back up... And we will love him as a bench player

You sure do love some raw ppg stats…
no one mistakes him for a lockdown defender, there would be nothing wrong with that if as a scorer he wasn’t among the worst in the league.
People here don’t understand roles? You really think everyone here is that much dumber than you, huh?

Re: Are we too tough on Cole Anthony?
People are pretty clearly too tough on him. He was getting bashed all throughout his rookie season. Even this year when he had that hot streak at the start of the year he got bashed around here. I think it's a combo of things. His attitude rubs folks the wrong way, People didn't want to draft him, so they want to be right and his actual game.
Lets just stick to his game. Its not all his fault as he is still in the wrong role. He was thrusted into a starter and primary ball handler role that we didn't envision when we drafted him. HIs rookie season I figured he'd come off the bench and he'd play mostly with MCW to help with defense and so he can focus on being a scoring punch. However everyone got hurt. So he had to start and be the ball handler. Obviously this year obviously this year Fultz was still out but in getting Suggs I thought he'd take over the primary ball handling but he was not good either. So we ended up with Suggs paying off ball cause his ball handling isn't good enough to be lead ball handler. So it was still Cole. I'm praying that Fultz stays heathy and Suggs starts to look like an NBA PG so Cole can be a scoring punch off the bench which is what his skill set is. All that said Cole had some really bad moments this year. I don't mind some of the bad shots cause to be a tough shot maker you have to take tough shots. But some of the junk he threw up at times was just insane. Another thing that annoyed me was in crunch time he was ball hogging at times in games where he wasn't even playing well. If he was feeling it then fine but when your already struggling he's gotta move the ball and stop the dribble dribble crap. HIs defense is a problem too. Its not about his size either . He had moments where despite his size he was pesky out there. Other times it looks like he didn't care. His size will always limit him defensively but he can be alot better with more attention to detail and effort.
He had a lot of good moments mostly at the start of the season. He had some games where he actually made me believe we had found our go to guy. The Utah game was one where he was outstanding. He had a couple games like that. I still think he has some potential to be a good player. This upcoming year is going to tell us alot

Yeah sometimes, depending on the idiot that’s posting. Cole was in his SECOND SEASON, he’s a guy that’s never been Uber efficient to begin with, put into a starting role out of necessity, that historically takes more time to learn, on a bad team….what moronic jackass thinks he was a finished product?Skin wrote:j-ragg wrote:Blue_and_Whte wrote:Yes. Well that would take some level of intelligence to show the patience you’re suggesting.

Re: Are we too tough on Cole Anthony?
On another thread, someone questioned Jabari forcing up shots-even when he's struggling. He didn't have the supporting cast, so his bad shot is still the "right shot". This is Cole's issue too, IMO. He's been the best guy to take the shot, by a mile, his whole life, at every level. He can grow out of it when he gets some support. Not excusing him at all...but the big knock on his one year at UNC was supporting cast made him look inefficient (and injuries). No one can win at the NBA level by themselves...Not MJ, no one. You could say Cole had a better supporting cast at UNC than he did on Orlando's tank-tactic team last year. Really, who's the shooter he should have passed to?
My faith in Mosley and a much improved roster makes me see a little light ahead for Cole. He's obviously very skilled and has a big personality...probably more likely to teach someone to see what it takes to win than to teach them basic basketball skills-like we hear most years with our picks. I'd really like to bring in a mentor who's skill level makes him worthy of Cole's respect. I think it could be Oladipo or, if we really shoot for the moon, Mitchell. I like Oladipo though...he's always been a two-way player and he's evolved from a poor shooting, highlight reel-seeking, dribbling into traffic and losing it, drafted too high would be star into a legit star. His injuries make him gettable and also, maybe, make him less likely to be unable to relinquish his crown gracefully (when the time comes).
Fultz and Suggs might be the guys that can't keep up if Anthony just starts to "get it". Maybe Cole IS being groomed to be our PG of the future and last year was just a step in the maturing process.
Never thought I'd say these things but it's good to have options for now...I like all 3 but I'm concerned about keeping them all for much longer and putting players in the wrong backcourt spot. I think they are all PG's or they're all not very good.
