Realgm told me Lakers were stupid for not trading for Lowry. Now realgm is telling me that Lowry is a negative asset and washed.

Lowry has looked 100% washed up. He’s gonna be out of the league in 2-3yr and probably a full time backup from here on out.

I initially thought Lowry's 3rd year was team option but damn it's not even team option. It's gonna be not easy to get rid of that contract

He was fine next to Kawhi

Huh? 13.5, 7.5 and 4.5 on 60% TS.

Solid Raptor Metrics - https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/nba-player-ratings/?player=Kyle%20Lowry&season=2022
Other advanced stats look good.

Is he worth 30 million? Clearly not. But still a pretty good player.

I should say not THAT good.
No not worth his money, probably worth half the money.

His role is valuable in the heat still so he definitely has impact

He's definitely worth half the money, cmon. That's just hyperbole.

I'm guessing his value is somewhere in the 19-23 range. (and clearly declining, I won't argue that).

I do not watch the Heat as much as i do Toronto, but in the past Lowry could have averaged 10 and 6 and still had a massive positive impact because he makes winning plays all over the floor that do not show on the stat sheet. He was never a real 1st option, but he had the impact of one with everything he did.

So unless he suddenly has forgotten how to do all the little things, I do not think it is fair to look at box score stats and say he was not worth it. He is clearly injured, and unless he is never healthy again his contract really is not that bad.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

The guys just above and just below him. I'm assuming if you averaged out those salaries you'd probably get a little higher than I estimated.

He's fat. And he'll be 36 next season. Something of a problem for the Heat.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Remember last year when Raptors fans were scolding other teams for not getting into a Lowry bidding war at the trade deadline?

Well he's clearly playing hurt and he is obviously past his prime but when healthy he is still a good player in this league. And wasn't the rumoured deal last year THT and filler for Kyle Lowry? If that's true that's literally absurd that the Lakers didn't do that. Would have likely got past the Suns had they have done it.

Over-rated by Raptors fans, he wasn't even the second best player on the Raptors championship team. That was Siakam, Kawhi saved Lowrys career.

He's a million years old. Chris Paul and Lebron have tricked people into thinking players will be stars well into their 30s. Those 2 are the exception, not the rule.

For perspective, Kyle lowry is the same age as Lamarcus Aldrige, Carmelo Anthony, Marc Gasol, and 1 year younger than Deron Williams
