Lol who? This is why Lebron left Cleveland because star players careers are placed in the hands of nobodies and people judge these star players careers on winning championships. Front offices are comprised of people who don't reflect NBA sidelines.

People barely knew this guy's name before ESPN absorbed draftexpress. You could really see Schmitz absolute go to work at ESPN. He raised his profile every year he was there to the point of getting a job offer like this. That is super impressive.

Grizzlies sorta started it when they hired ESPN John Hollinger. Granted, it was a terrible hire because Hollinger wasn’t even good as a writer, but there ya go.

At least this guy has a proven track record. To go from Draft Express to now this. Awesome stuff.

Please explain this. I'm actually not a huge fan of his, but I'm sensing this is about him having a lot of misses in the past.

If that's the case then strike up the band and play the old classic: scouts can't tell the future, GMs take guesses based on the only info we have on people, which is inadequate for the task and which is the same thing everyone who's done their homework knows. That's drafting, basketball fans need to stop pretending there's more to it or something else 'smart scouts' or 'great GMs' know beyond that.

Was he ever part of RealGM? I remember Givony posted here under CheeseDoodle.

Something happened where he wrote about disparaging a prospect and the agent freaked out, went after the Board. He stopped posting.

Does anyone remember the story? Who was the prospect?
