I thought the understanding is that since not everybody automatically considers Bill Russell the GOAT simple ring count is not the final measure for legacy, nor should it be tbh.

He would be pretty close that's for sure. MJ being undefeated in the finals and 2 3 peats is hard to top.

Curry has dominated the modern era of basketball with one team, didnt hop around from team to team like a chicken and was the reason golden state became a juggernaut...2x uninaminous mvp and broke rays record. If it was lebron on golden state when they struggled for 2 years, lebron would have "took his talents elsewhere ect.." by now... only knock left on curry is that he doesnt have an FMVP yet... he has a magic johnson MVP wcf award but he needs the finals FMVP too...

Except LeBron has 4 Finals MVPs and 4 NBA MVPs to go along with those 4 rings.

So it's not possible for Curry. There is nothing Curry can do anymore to surpass LeBron in legacy or brand. There is literally nothing Curry can do that will make people think that he's better at basketball than LeBron James.

4 finals MVP's don't have anywhere near the weight a lot of Anti-Steph types want to give credence to. that's not something that gets brought up when the GOAT debate between Jordan and James gets discussed, so why is that an asterisk for Steph? Curry goes to the hall of fame with more titles than LeBron he supplants LeBron as the Greatest player of his era. it's pretty simple.

lol he's not top 15. he's top 10 already. and he has plenty of time to get pretty far up in that list.

yup, it would have been a lot better look if he was eliminated earlier. Then he can say he won more than half his finals. Thank god Curry didnt make it to the finals and lose last season, much better that he missed the playoffs entirely

ya sorry i just cant back that kinda mentality, oh but he made the finals so he gets a participation trophy.. sorry, either you win or you dont. theres no in between. lebron has 4 titles, to jordans 6, thats what history will remember.

Thats some real backwords logic. So its better to lose in the 1st/2nd/3rd round rather than the making it to the finals? lol sounds real smart.

Curry would only have 1 chip without KD, guy couldn't even get a single FMVP being in the finas 4 times so far.

Another subjective legacy ranking thread based on hypotheticals. Sweet.

His career Finals play/numbers/impact metrics are already among the best of the best (better than Kobe's, worse than Jordan's). Let's see how this round goes and how he plays. Against the D he will be facing his numbers will very likely be a far lower % than against a series like Dallas (44/44/84).

As is, no, Lebron has a case for GOAT (fell short imo), and while you could argue a case for Curry as GOAT teammate + among the top 10 now, he does not. Health/availability matters, for one.

You can keep repeating this as much as you want but to people who haven't drunk the cool-aid it will look bizarre to arrive at such a conclusion.

What’s bizarre about having a 2x MVP, 1x Finals MVP, 4x champion, and the greatest shooter of all time as top 12?

Or are you saying it’s bizarre to have Lebron as top 2? Because Lebron’s legacy speaks for himself, and a lot of people have him as the GOAT.

In other disciplines having the record is the most important. In other disciplines doing more in less time is considered better. The way people argue on this site will be baffling to many.

If there is a candidate between Curry and LeBron for top two it should be Curry.

This stat is absolutely nuts though. 474-112 with Curry on the floor over the past 10 years. A 73% win %. That's an exact 60 win pace. And onto their 6th Finals in the past 8 seasons. Growing up as a Warrior fan and watching them as the forever laughing stock of the league outside of a few fun early-exit seasons, that's pretty wild. It's been a team effort, but one both generated and facilitated by Steph.

And Curry couldn't even make the finals in 8 years out of his 13 year career, much worse than Lebron. What a fail.

You hang around places like this that have an entire forum dedicated to LeBron and people who watch BSPN and the like. People who are paid based on performance would be more split.

That's too far. Let him win and carve himself out as an undisputed top 10 guy first. Baby steps.
