Good for him, but he's kinda in a no-win situation in LA. At least he'll have a chance to be on the head coach carousel after he leaves LA.

In Game 5 they had a combined 13 points (all by Butler) on a combined 4-24 shooting, 1-10 from 3 and 4 FT attempts and looked super slow and hurt. Game 6 they have a combined 65 points on 21-43 shooting, 8-17 from 3 and 15 FT attempts and looked like they were completely healthy.

Jimmy Butler is a bad man.

Darvin presuming he coaches similarly to Bud would raise the floor on that Laker team, get into playoffs with Lebron/AD healthy is the main thing. Not sure how he's going to use Westbrook.

Think he’s been visiting Roger Clemens GNC store in Boston. Think he will be fine by tomorrow night.

Happy for Ham.

Definitely the highest profile of gigs. And he didn’t make so much money in his career where this contract is something to sneeze at.

Darvin definitely has his work cut out for him though. He’ll have a year grace period but curious what his plan is with Russ, per Woj:

One of Ham’s most important directives: Finding a way to incorporate future Hall of Fame guard Russell Westbrook into the franchise’s framework with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. It was a significant subject of every Lakers coaching interview in the process, sources said.

Kinda?

The only way he exceeds expectations is if there is an instant turnaround, and even then the story would likely be Lebron's late career brilliance. Hard to see any path where his tenure in L.A. will be viewed as a coaching success. Surviving three seasons will be near miraculous.

I wonder if Haslem knows that outside the state of Florida, he's not some dignified elder statesman, he's just another Florida Man.

Super happy for Darvin. Hate seeing him go tho. I talked to him a handful of times when he was a player here and a few times in the past few years. One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. The players will definitely miss having him on the sidelines.

I'm really happy for him as well, just wish it wasn't the Lakers. I feel like he is going to get screwed over.

I think most other organization know what a sh*t show that franchise is right now, and wouldn't hold it against him much if he were let go after a year or two.

Excited for Ham but wish he was going to a better situation. He's not going to get the credit he deserves if they succeed, it'll all go to LeBron. And if they don't meet their expectations he's going to be the fall guy. Wish he found his Memphis/Jenkins situation where he got a fun, super talented young team with a smart front office that could set him up for success long term.

Would be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about the talent drain in our coaching staff. Jenkins, Sullivan, now Ham. Would be dope if we could pick up a big time assistant, someone who was a pretty good HC, like GSW did with Kenny Atkinson.

I love Bill Walton calling out young players and referring to their flopping as like trout out of water lmao

Yea but Darvin would benefit massively from some Lebron brilliance for another couple of years. Darvin would get plenty of credit in the coaching world.

I was curious about this so I pulled the numbers.

Bam in 15 games over the last 2 postseasons where the opponent had their starting center available (Lopez, Capela, Embiid, Rob Williams):

14/8/2 on 57% TS

In the 6 games where those centers were out of the lineup:

20/10/5 per 36 on 69% TS

To be fair, Bam's athletic as hell but he's also pretty small for a center.

Celtics being carried by the refs the entire offseason only to complain about them in game 6 is priceless.

I really can't stand that team, especially Grant Williams.....nor a big majority of their fans that somehow believe they have gone without a title in SOOOOOO long.

I like Boston's players, hate their fans. But I hate Miami's players AND fans, so go Boston.

Don't really care who wins but it would be such karmic justice for Boston to lose this in 7 after their team/fanbase acting like they already won the title on like, 4 different occasions this postseason.
