I think its more of a timeline issue. We are on the clock and Butler is breaking down, Lowry is broken down and if we do want to compete, big changes need to happen. We know Duncan is trash, Lowry with his contract is also a negative asset to put it politely, Bam is the main reason we can keep our switching defense in place. That leave Herro as the odd man out. Ideally you dont trade him but with the flops of Duncan and Lowry, to make a trade you need to give up something of value to get value in return.
We are in Game 7 of the East Finals. What you talking about, bro?
And if we had Spida instead of Herro/Duncan we probably win in 5, 6 max.
I don’t think anyones knocking this team as is, or individual players. But many of us are team fans and would love to maximise the chance at rings. Dipo coming back fit next season affords us the potential to dangle Herro (with Duncan for salary ballast), in attempt to get a better fitting piece. We’re super deep, but this PO has showed us we need another piece up top. Why not try to get it?
Had a long post typed but it messed up. Basically this though, swap Herro with Mitchell Lavine Beal Lillard or Kyrie and we’re already waiting on the finals. There will be more names to come up too I’m sure. A Jerami Grant/Bey swap would actually help this team a ton and Bey fits now and the future with Bam. That’s last resort imo though, we need a big fish.
Bottom line, wether we win this season or not, we’re not going to win next season if we don’t make a major upgrade imo. Other teams will be trying to do the same. Hell the warriors may win it all and then trade for Gobert.
I’ll be shocked if Herro isn’t traded by the deadline at the latest
