Re: 2022 Most Decreased Value
Some of the guys who lost value I also suspect have/had lingering injury issues and that's Paul and Lowry.
Harden by far lost the most value, he went from a 30ppg guy to like 15ppg guy.
The Brooklyn Nets organization went way down. Them trading Harden in a Finals or bust year for a guy who didn't even play is such a disaster on this year. Such a disaster scenario for any Finals aspiration franchise and fan base.
Russell Westbrook, went from all-star to guy who can't be your 3rd best player on a good team.
Bertans and Robinson lost big value after huge deals.
Kemba Walker, he went from a 19ppg guy to an 11ppg guy to the team didn't want him around. Incredible.

Zion. Missing the whole year and clear weight problems throughout.
He's gone from a player any and every team would give the farm up for to one that I think a lot of teams would not even touch as that extension could end up being the worst deal in the league.

It's Fat Thor. Dude's out there with the physique of a guy playing in a 40-and-over lawyer's league.

1. do preseason predictions determine how good a team is?
2. and do you disagree that the cavs and rockets are better than the teams theyve played this year? why create a strawman using narratives when we just watched them play 3 rounds in the playoffs and a whole regular season?
Please tell me you are pretending you had Golden State in the Finals before the playoffs began. Link your posts if so.
Always funny watching narratives recreate themselves after the fact.
Why does preseason matter? The team is very talented now why does my opinion in September matter?

Re: 2022 Most Decreased Value
Wiseman should be in the list, obviously not because of how he played, but because of a potential return in a trade. He only has 2 years left on his rookie contract, did not show anything to justify he could become a legit starter at C (not saying he won't), and the new draft will bring many pretty good centers or pf/c that will trivialize his profile.

I think it's either Zion or Simmons. These were both considered easily max guys after last season, they wouldn't be this offseason. Missing an entire season is never good for your value.

I’m speaking to right before the playoffs began, not September.

I thought they would beat the suns at the end of the season, yeah. I certainly didn’t think they would lose to any of the teams they played against in the playoffs. I can’t imagine anyone picking the nuggets grizzlies or mavs over the warriors, that sounds crazy imo

Hmm. What about Lebron v Boston or Kobe vs same? Did that really hurt their legacy? Did it not because they ultimately won? What about 07 Dirk?
07 Dirk definitely hurt his legacy. After blowing a 2-0 lead in the finals and then losing in the first round he was labeled a soft choker. In Bill Simmons Book of Basketball, which was published in 2010, he had Dirk ranked 39th.
All those guys won titles afterwards and redeemed themselves, and they weren’t as bad as Durant
Durant 13.5
Kobe 25
Lebron 24.3
Dirk 20.9
Actually Durant is in a very similar situation to Kobe around 2008. Kobe kept hearing he couldn’t win a ring without Shaq and Durant will keep hearing that he can’t win a ring without Steph.

Ironically Wiseman has an decent chance to make it on to next season's "most increased value" list.
Health permitting.
He's got talent but hasn't played enough basketball(college or pro) to know what he can be yet. The flashes are there though.
There's a world where he averages 15 and 10 with 2 blocks for the Warriors next season.

"I think it's KD because Warriors might win a title without him" I see this crap again.
People act like players never change. KD was still in his prime 5 years ago, Curry Klay Draymond never changed, Looney never changed, they never added Wiggins, GP2 and they never groomed Poole.
People are so keen on forming a jigsaw problem moving pieces around just to create a hot take and get some arguments up. Internet is a **** up place.

Re: 2022 Most Decreased Value
Kyle Lowry being an option is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever seen.
He posted 13.5/4.5/7.5/1.5 stl+blk and either led the league or was right at the top in charges drawn while posting the second highest ts% of his career. He also carried the heat to the 1 seed for almost two months when they were without Jimmy & Bam.
Let’s stop the narrative that he has declined because he’s been playing on one leg in the playoffs.

Some names that immediately come to mind: Kyrie Irving, James Harden, Ben Simmons, Russell Westbrook, Julius Randle, Zion Williamson
All of the above ☝️ plus Lonzo Ball, Anthony Davis, Melo, Bazemore,Nunn,Dwight and the Lakers ball boys

Re: 2022 Most Decreased Value
A little OT, but i just thought of something extremely funny.
With the Nets being so reluctant to give Kyrie a long term contract, and Westbrook being the odd man out in LA, how about.... you know.
And yes, i know this trade is impossible, but i would like to see it so bad.

Totally agree. Anyone who watches the games knows that Lowry had a huge role in the Heats' success this season and was great for the development of Bam, Herro, Vincent. I'm pretty sure he could've averaged 18ppg if his role required it but it did not. Even on a team like Miami that gets plenty of national coverage the guy is under appreciated.

Sure, in the moment, it affected them. And redemption lifted them beyond that point, was sort of where I was going with my remark. It isn't an indelible mark against them, just something to overcome with future achievement. Or not, I suppose.
