He's playing about as good as he's ever played in his career. He badly deserves a championship. But do not be surprised if he's gone after this season should we fail to win a championship. He's not going to take a pay cut or do anyone any favors. Should we release him to save money he will sign for whoever is willing to pay him the most. I would not be surprised if OKC, after getting an elite talent, finally decides to try and compete and gives him a nice 3 year deal to mentor and be a veteran presence. They reportedly loved him and he them and worked well together. They're one of the few teams with the need and money that could. DET, NOP, HOU and SA might be suitors as well. Any chance ownership keeps him and goes into the tax or risks losing Grant over Horford?

Big Al was fantastic on the glass last night. Really controlled the boards and played great defense for us, despite only scoring 5 points.

He's been our most consistent player and 2nd most valuable player in this playoff run. This isn't up for debate.

He very much looks like a guy who knows this may be his best chance at a title, as a big part of a team.

He’s been incredible, and I think we’d feature him more offensively against GS.

Uncle Clappy can sniff a ring...
I'm pretty sure he's told his legs to suck it up and act like he's 25 for the next few weeks.

Will anyone object to a hypothetical Larry Bird ECF MVP Award for Horford and Finals MVP for Tatum?

I would be more than fine with it. Al’s heart and determination got us through some tricky situations this whole run. He deserves some recognition for sure.

Would be fine with JB too as he deserves something too. Tatum will pick up many individual accolades throughout his career.

Al Horford is not playing for 12 million or 7 million in guarantees. Financially, getting knocked out and released would be a boon for him because he would immediately get a multi year offer > 12m from somebody. Lowry got 3 years at 29 million a year this off season. Of course, I hope he gets his full 26.5m guaranteed and I am sure he will be extremely proud for doing it. But again, with the way Al has played…..he has nothing at stake financially.

Terrible news. José Reynoso, Al Horford's grandfather, passed away this morning. We will see how this news affects the Dominican who had been having an exceptional performance in these Playoffs.

trigger warning: kind of a sad/twisted post here, that speaks to the maturity/professionalism of two recent (one current) Celtics:
just remembered when Kyrie lost a grandparent and he blamed a whole 'lost' season on it.
Al lost his mom's dad last Friday, played his *one* 'bad' game of the playoffs that night, and two days later was a key to winning G7.

Al Horford, Celtics fans salute you right back
Paul Pierce appreciation society.

Horford is getting his contract fully guaranteed, win or lose. Nice touch by Celtics.

Makes sense. He wasn't going to get cut to clear 7 millions off the books so that way you continue building good will with a player that you'll probably want to extend soon.
