Re: Kyle Lowry has been awful in this playoffs
Lowry was amazing last night.
3 of his 12 shots were buzzer beating chucks so his numbers look a little worse then then should. He also had an assist on the strus three that was wrongly taken off the board and hit a three that didn’t count because of a foul on Boston running into the screener before he released it. Another FG attempt wound up being credited as a block for Tatum but it looked like a goaltend (wound up resulting in an uncontested O-Board and slam for Bam but Lowry really created the points and probably should have been credited with them).
He drew about 10 total fouls including three offensive. Had two steals and a block plus had the strip on Tatum that resulted in the jump ball vs strus which Miami won but strus was incorrectly credited with the steal.
He was also the primary defender on Tatum in the second half. I honestly don’t think Tatum scored on him more then once.
He was great. Anyone who says otherwise has no real understanding of basketball. Also, contact exaggerating master class (although most were actually fouls that were embellished - the Tatum and 1 was the only real no contact flop I saw)

Re: Kyle Lowry has been awful in this playoffs
It would be fun to see Lowry & DeRozan back together.
To Miami: DeMar DeRozan + Ayo Dosunmu
To Chicago: Tyler Herro + Duncan Robinson + Omer Yurtseven + Mychal Mulder
Lowry
Butler
DeRozan
Tucker
Bam
Gives the Heat a two year window Butler + Bam + DeRozan + Lowry. Ayo would be Lowry's eventual replacement. In two years they can rebuild/retool with Bam + Butler + a max spot once Lowry and DeRozan expire or trade Butler and build around Bam.
Ball
Herro
Lavine
Williams
Vuc
Chicago gets Herro as a hedge in case Lavine walks, but they could also play together too.

Chicago laughs at that offer. But its not a bad idea to go after DeRozan.

People are trying to build hypothetical trades scenarios around Herro for Dame, Beal and Mitchell. Maybe Herro isn't good enough to be the main piece in a trade for a star I guess.

Lowry's foul grifting was nauseating and I stopped watching the game for a bit because of it. No wonder the non-hardcore bball fans have trouble believing that the NBA isn't scripted like WWE. Butler also makes it pretty obvious when he's simply fishing for FTs vs. actually trying to score.
If the NBA actually had the cajones to stick to the way they were officiating the beginning of the season, they would have a higher quality (and believable) product.

Nope. The Heat needed reliable scorers. Its supporting cast was godawful at putting the ball in the basket in this series, from Game 1 to Game 7. Just brutal. That is why it lost a series when it defended well, caused a million turnovers, and had the best player on the court in Games 1, 2, 6, and 7. The. Role. Players. Could. Not. Score. Especially Lowry.
I think both things can be true.
Lowry's abyssmal scoring hurt the Heat in this series, esp bc that is what they desperately needed. (Other contributors hurt the Heat in this way, but Lowry was probably the worst culprit) He also did alot of positive stuff, and I saw him as a net positive in games 3, 6 and 7 and net negative in games 4 and 5.
Wasn't worth 30 million; isn't a star. But he is still mostly a bball asset,IMO, just an aging and increasingly specialized one.

Totally. Lakers were much better off with Westbrook

Nope. He admittedly played nowhere near a player of his contract should play, but in a vacuum, he helped Miami and was a thorn in bostons side all game. Put points up when they needed them and took them away from the celtics when they needed them. Basketball isnt played on a fg% stat sheet.

It was disgusting. The refs and the nba need to have some damn pride in themselves, because he obviously doesnt. Allowing yourself to get worked over by a player like that all game is disgraceful. But it almost helped win them the game, so as much as i **** hate it you bet he’d do it again.

Yep... ends justifies the means, from Lowry's perspective. I don't have the solution, but the problem is rewarding the behavior you're trying to avoid. Kind of like tanking for a high draft pick rewards losing & incompetence.

Hamstring injury is not a joke.

Looks like they're gonna try to get some weight off him. Let's see if he rolls with it or pulls the Jermaine O'Neal.

He had a semi resurgence in Toronto when he shed some weight off. I expect a similar transition next year as Lowry ala CP3 doesn't rely much on athleticism. However, being fat and a hampered hamstring will zap any quickness/speed so he can't be worse than he was. If heat get '19 version of Lowry, a more consistent aggressive version of the Bam they saw in game 3 vs Celtics AND either Herro developing or packaged for a disgruntled star then Heat should be right back in the fray of things.

Re: Kyle Lowry has been awful in this playoffs
Lowry's conditioning has been an issue for the majority of his career, what are the chances he's going to turn it around at 36 years old and having $59 million guaranteed over the next two seasons?

If there's any team capable of doing it then it's the Heat. Lowry claims he was disappointed about not a winning a title, well if he's honest with himself then he'll take accountability and comply with training staff in losing the bf%. We'll just have to see.

He spent a full season with the Heat, he just put the Miami staff on mute?

Re: Kyle Lowry has been awful in this playoffs
a lot of his excess weight came when he was injured. I would imagine while he's rehabbing and the president of the team responsible for trade says he wants you in better shape you comply or risk getting shipped off in a package deal.queridiculo wrote:Eagle4 wrote:queridiculo wrote:Lowry's conditioning has been an issue for the majority of his career, what are the chances he's going to turn it around at 36 years old and having $59 million guaranteed over the next two seasons?

I kind of think the same. I'm not sure how easy to achieve and maintain 8% body fat is, naturally, at age 36. Especially since he's always carried that baby fat around with him.queridiculo wrote:Lowry's conditioning has been an issue for the majority of his career, what are the chances he's going to turn it around at 36 years old and having $59 million guaranteed over the next two seasons?
