He barely scores more ppg than Poole in much more minutes on much worse efficiency:

Klay: 19.8 ppg on 57.5 TS% in 35.1 mpg
Poole: 18.4 ppg on 67.3 TS% in 30.1 mpg

Then there is Wiggins who averages 16 ppg as well. If you feel forced to use rigid structures like "second option", then technically Klay is the 2nd scorer on Warriors team, but the truth is that they have 3 players scoring within 16-20 ppg range on a given night around Steph.

His defense is still there, they are just protecting him more. He can lock down when he needs to.

Well, he hasn't shown any signs of that so far and it's not like they weren't in moments when they needed that - Morant destroyed Warriors defense before the injury.

Green is great for what he does, but he is not their second best player, his offense isn't good enough. He is a fifth scoring option. He is a playmaking genius, but somebody needs to put the ball through the basket.

As always, you don't take into account Warriors defense... which has been just as important for their success as their offense. Green is clearly Warriors 2nd best player this year, just like in 2015 and 2016.

Klay is the perfect player to play the 3&D role.

How is it way more one dimensional? They all have a smiliar types of games. Shooters running around through screens and gaps to get open.

Miller was significantly more skilled scorer overall. He could beat opponents off the dribble, he had this awkward but effective floater game, he was much better at drawing fouls. It's like saying that Kobe Bryant and Steve Francis have similar type of games.

No he wasn't, they are very similar type of players offensively.

Serious question: are you discussing in good faith here or is this just some kind of long-running issue you have with 70sFan where you have to be contentious with him on everything? Or did you simply never watch Reggie Miller actually play basketball? Because Reggie and Klay have nowhere near similar types of games outside of both being elite 3pt shooters. I would say they're both elite offball players but Reggie was much better than Klay there and when it comes to onball you can't even compare

EDIT: I see you originally responded to Dutchball by saying Klay > Miller. So apparently you simply either didn't watch Reggie play or you weren't appreciating what you were seeing

aren't you guys going a bit too far with this?
seriously, they have a very similar game, they make it sound we're comparinf Shawn Bradley and Earl Boykins.

I don't think we are. Reggie had a much higher BBIQ, was far superior onball (a LEGIT three level scorer), could actually post up, a much better and more decisive passer, and a more impactful offball player due to the fact that he warped defenses from the inside-out off paint picks as opposed to Klay who feasts of high screens/slips and Curry gravity. Miller was a bonafide anchor of resilient offensive playoff teams and he did it for years despite being surrounded by objectively poor offensive teammates. Like I think Reggie is closer to Dirk Nowitzki than Klay Thompson in terms of offensive value. And beyond just their straight up value to their teams, their playstyles just aren't that similar outside of the fact that they're both great 3pt shooters

Honestly I could spend 20 mins typing out a more detailed post but it'd probably be better for everyone if I just link Ben Taylor's Back Picks page for Reggie. It should be required reading for anyone who wants to have a conversation about how good of a basketball player Reggie Miller was

https://backpicks.com/2018/01/18/backpicks-goat-29-reggie-miller/

And just to add something that isn't in Ben's article; Reggie was longer and had a higher release point than Klay inside the arc. For a guy who wasn't known as much of a leaper, Reggie could pretty much get his shot off vs anyone
