Re: 2022 NBA Draft
Is givony’s mock based off what he would do, or is it based off intel like chad ford’s used to be?

Based on info, not that Chad Ford ever had any.

Kessler would signal Bud drop defense for eternity.

Re: 2022 NBA Draft
If we plan to stick with the drop, Kessler makes a lot of sense. And I suspect we plan to stick with it a decent amount at least.

Re: 2022 NBA Draft
Kessler would be such an uninspiring pick to me, and it has nothing to do with the outsized hate of the drop defense. If I had to construct a Top-5 "Do Not Want" list it would probably be:
Walker Kessler
Kennedy Chandler
Blake Wesley
Jean Montero
Christian Braun
Walker Kessler
Kennedy Chandler
Blake Wesley
Jean Montero
Christian Braun

Far more likely he goes 8th than 18th, I think. Here's to hoping Givony has a good read on things, because I AGREE.
Wow at the Jalen Williams meteoric rise. Good for him.
Feel like Williams is still undersold at 20. Guys with his size/length who can shoot and run PnR are not easy to find. There are things to like about Agbaji, for example, but the fact that almost everybody has him in the lottery seems like a misunderstanding.

He definitely makes sense for us, but I just can’t help but think that traditional drop bigs have slightly declined value in the league currently, they usually take time to actually develop into impactful rim protectors, and there’s limited upside.
I think his highest possible upside is a slightly less quick poeltl. Now, I love poeltl, but I don’t love a slightly worse version as a best case scenario.
Give me someone that has greater potential and potential not to be scheme dependent, please.

Emunney, Ron, Etc...
Let's say Bud woke up in the middle of the night and decided "Giannis at center" is going to be our WWE "finishing move" at the end of games for the next half decade. Who would make the most sense at #24 (guard/wing most likely to stick and contribute)?

Re: 2022 NBA Draft
A player like Kessler could be useful to us (particularly a mature version of him), but there's no scenario in which he's the best use for this pick. We have to take a shot at a more complete player.

Liddell. No question for me if the quantifier is who's gonna be a Day 1 contributor.
Jrue/Khris/Liddell/Giannis plus any 3&D shooting guard is the all-switching closing lineup you're looking for.

Gun to my head, if you say which of these guys is most likely to be our starting 2 guard next year, I'll say Wendell Moore. That's a combination of availability and role readiness.

I mean, I agree. If you think you can get Williams to defend at a high level he is lottery in this class.

I agree with you on Kessler, Montero, and Wesley. Chandler I’m on the fence with, but I’d like to hear why you’re against Braun.

Re: 2022 NBA Draft
I’ll have to give it some thought but I think Braun would be somewhere in my top 5 realistic choices (I don’t consider Jalen Williams to be realistic at this point personally). Kessler probably not quite in my top 5 if I had to guess.

I was higher on him before I watched more of the Kansas highlights. If you're a wing with T-Rex arms, then you better be an absolute sniper from 3PT range. Otherwise I don't know how much upside you have on offense. Nothing special as a passer. Not terribly quick off the dribble. His pump-fake/side-step 3 game is pretty alright I guess. Just don't see it with him.

There’s quite a few centers in the draft and quite a few teams rumored to be looking to move their centers this off-season. I have to think picking a vet center up this off-season on a value contract will be pretty easy. The value in this draft is all of the wings. Either trade up to get one with a complete game or take one at our pick that needs some development but I haven’t seen a draft with this many quality wings in a while

Re: 2022 NBA Draft
Hope Givony is wrong , Kessler has no offensive skills , horrible ft's . we need to get longer on the wings who can shoot and defend not a one dimension center.

Giving it some more thought. Based on who’s available in the 20+ range of Givony’s mock, I’d probably rank the guys:
1. Jalen Williams
2. MarJon Beauchamp
3. EJ Liddell
4. Christian Braun
5. Blake Wesley
6. Dalen Terry
7. Walker Kessler
8. Kennedy Chandler
9. Kendall Brown
10. Wendell Moore
