The more I think about it, the more I think Trent is traded on draft night. I just dont see how we can pay FVV, Siakam, Trent, OG all north $22M + a year then Precious' raise after we expect a big year from him next season.

Although maybe Masai's thinking is just re-up all of these guys, then get maximum value later.

GTJ is the only one that is not extension eligible so if the Raps even wanted to re-sign him it would be as a UFA.

It doesn’t seem like one side or both sides are committed to me based on him signing a short-term contract and Masai not mentioning him when talking about the core.

If FVV doesn’t sign that extension, I think he’s moved as well. Raps can’t afford to let these guys walk in free agency.

I think FVV would extend. And if he doesnt, theyve committed to him publically - he's a major peice for us on and off the court.

Trent's 1 year left creates chaos. We either view him as a long term peice and re-up him in free agency next year (can always retain and trade later) or we move on from him now and try to get another peice (pick/player). We can't pay all of these guys $24M+ and Trent would likely be last when it comes to valuable core peices.

Of course he wants more touches lol, he's a 24 year old kid experimenting with his game.

That doesn't mean he wants a trade but it also doesn't mean the Raptors won't trade him in a heart beat for a better package.

Everyone has his price. If he is not happy with his role now, he should be moved because he will continue to move down the pecking order. But I think he accepts his role and place accordingly.

After deRozan we know this loyality thing and all talk doesn't mean anything, if there is an upgrade to be had, we won't hesitate to make a move.

There’s too many holes on the roster to be contenders next year imo.

4-years $114 mill is more than fair for FVV. If he turns that down to bet on himself then you move him immediately.

*sigh* I like Hart, and it would be cool to have another 'Nova guy on the team, someone for Lowry to canoodle with when he's bought out late in the season after next.

But OG is the most overtly physical of our "big 3" forwards. We're not that imposing a team unless another physical forward or C is coming back, perhaps in a separate deal of Trent for a C.

Precious is the wild card here. If the organization sees him as someone who deserves to start going forward, then OG is probably the odd man out. Maybe. Man, this is hard.

Hart might be the most physical guard in the league, so while he isn't a forward he'd be beating up opposing guards so that Fred doesn't have to. Re-sign Thad and then see what you get in the draft.

People are really underrating Josh Hart. He's a good 2 way player who has become a good 3 point shooter.

He’s also an elite rebounder for his position so it would allow us to keep playing the position-less lineup.

Pretty much everyone in here guessed that the rumor came from POR (and Utah) so not a big surprise to hear anything from Josh (although not like any of our local journalists are even remotely plugged in lol)...

But hopefully some Trent rumours start circulating between now & the draft and ofc hopefully a deal can be made. But I feel like if Sharpe were available, I'd move OG to get him and see if the Raps can turn him into a star.
