He also says we have some interest in Sexton. I don't know why we would unless we want to make a second trade with Cleveland so that the protection on their pick could be renegotiated.

It’s still so early and there’s time for all the rising and falling star reports to start surfacing once workouts are closer to complete.

Any combination of moves they can execute to get both Mathurin and Sochan is a win for me.

trading Brogdon
trading the 31st pick
trading the last pick
trading back slightly from 6

as we need a defensive SF or 2 :P

No Ivey for me as I really don’t want a lineup with Duarte playing the 3 and getting manhandled on defense against bigger players repeatedly like Justin Holiday did and more recently Buddy Heild.

I’m not a huge proponent of 3 guard lineups unless all three can stroke the 3 above 40% AND play defense to give us the advantage of going small.

Going forward I want either Hield or Duarte beside Haliburton and beside McConnell on second unit with a bigger SF, PF, C. Substitutes would be Washington and Lance for foul trouble or mop up minutes.

I’d love it if we had a front court rotation behind starter Myles of Brissett, Jackson, Taylor, and (Smith if he stays). Goga I guess :o

There’s a lot of deals we could make for Sexton. Either way, he’s an offensive minded shorter guard that seems like he COULD pair well with Hali, though we’d need a heavy focus on getting them better defensively. But at least they could cross match well.

We could renegotiate the pick. We could double sign and trade Rubio (would be a bit tricky as Sexton would be a Base Year Compensation player). But there’s options, and there’s theoretical fit.

But if we end up with an Ivey, Sharpe, or Mathurin, I don’t see the interest.

Mathurin and Sochan would be Amazing. If Mathurin could guard speed. Haliburton, Mathurin, Duarte, Turner, and Sochan. Sochan looks like a more athletic Thad Young. Mathurin and Duarte could be having people chase them all over the court, and Turner would be getting dunks. Sochan could guard the taller shooters. Haliburton and Duarte are upgrades over Brogdon on defending wings.

My vision if we got both is one rookie would start and the other relieve with the second unit but not play together to start. Of course Carlisle hasn’t asked for my opinion lately.

I honestly don't know enough about the prospects at this point to have any I'm completely out on. If Ivey is there at 6, you kinda have to take him based on value unless there's a major red flag. Trading up is a different story obviously.
