Duncan Robinson - F
Duncan was paid $90 million to do one thing: Shoot the three. But he seemingly forgot how to do that throughout the course of the season. That and the fact that he can't guard his own shadow made him basically unplayable down the line. Easy to wonder why he lost his starting gig.

P.J. Tucker - B
Tucker was awesome pre-all star break. Hitting the 3 at a great rate (he was #1 in 3pt% for a time) and providing tough defense. Post all-star his game dropped, though and he proved too small in certain instances. Tough as hell, though.

Max Struss - B
After Duncan's blunders, Struss became our top shooter and while he wasn't the best defender, he at least displayed some resistance. Like others his play dropped off as the playoffs went on but he still proved his worth in my eyes.

Gabe Vincent - B
I seriously thought Gabe was gonna end up in China at the end of the season. But the dude suddenly began shooting lights out and actually became a serviceable backup to Lowry. Was a pest defensively but he also seemed to have a case of Mario Chalmers syndrome where he thought he was "the man" at times. But he showed he's not afraid of the moment at least.

Dewayne Dedmon - C
There were times when he put in quality minutes. There were others where you wanted him off the court. Considering his deal I can't be too mad at him tho, hence the grade.

Tyler Herro - B
Regular season Tyler was like a man on a mission, coming off the bench to provide instant offense and going on to win the first 6MOTY award in franchise history. That has to be commended. But then the playoffs started and he was largely uneven. His lack of defense certainly didn't help. Then the injury came and Tyler was just another body...

Kyle Lowry - C
Big booty made a good impression when it came to running the offense. And he had his moments throughout the season (leading player in charges drawn). But he wasn't the difference maker I hoped he would be in the playoffs and he's not getting any younger so...

Caleb Martin - B-
I like Caleb. Has the athleticism and the defense. Was a good backup for Jimmy. Needs to keep working on his outside shot though, and he was mostly an afterthought throughout the playoffs.

Jimmy Butler - A
Played like the star player he is. Playoff Butler is real, and even though he was pretty poor in a couple of games he was a big reason why we were right there to the end in Game 7. Long live Big Face Coffee

Bam Adebayo - B-
Bam is certainly an important piece of our defense. Many would agree on that. But he just hasn't taken the steps on offense that I was hoping for. And he still doesn't seem to have that killer instinct in him on a consistent basis like he did in game 3 vs Boston. It's almost like I was watching Joel Anthony play at times during the Celtics series. He's still young of course, but he needs to work on his offense this off-season.

Omer Yurtseven - C
Put up some very nice numbers for us in that stretch of the season when many of our players were out. The potential to be a quality big man is certainly there.
But he's still has a lot of work to do, including his foot work on D.

Markieff Morris - D
Was pretty meh before the Jokic elbow. Didn't do much after that. Thanks for coming, I guess...

Victor Oladipo - B
Worked his way back from injury to play and try to give us a lift. Defense is not in question. Offensively not all the way back but you can probably chalk that up to rust. He had a few big games down the stretch, particularly game 5 against Atlanta when both Jimmy and Kyle were out.

Haywood Highsmith
Udonis Haslem
Javonte Smart
Mychal Mulder
These guys didn't play much so not a whole lot to talk about. Incomplete.

Spoelstra - B
Spo still makes some head scratching decisions but you don't become the #1 seed in the East with all the injuries we had for lacking in ability. 1 game away from the Finals considering the roster. Yes it sucks but gotta give the dude credit where it's due.

Jimmy Butler A

P.J. Tucker A

He was much better than I expected. He had career-high shooting percentages (FG and 3PT) and provided the Heat with toughness.

Bam Adebayo B

He didn't make the strides I think many of us wanted to see, but he had a solid season.

Max Strus B

I expected him to become a rotation player, and he met those expectations eventually overtaking Robinson in the starting lineup.

Gabe Vincent B

He was excellent filling in for Lowry. He exceeded the low expectations we had. He's a limited player, but a good backup.

Caleb Martin B-

Stepped in and give Miami good minutes off the bench. He'd be great to bring back, but he's not a starter.

Kyle Lowry C+

He was a good addition, but he can't be the 3rd "star" Miami needs.

Tyler Herro C+

Started off the season red-hot and then just seemed to regress as the season went along.

Victor Oladipo C

Nice to see Oladipo back, but he has been disappointing offensively. I think Miami needs to be realistic about who Oladipo is as a player now.

Omer Yurtseven C

Had an excellent stretch of games, but whether he can be a consistent contributor remains to be seen.

Dewayne Dedmon C

A solid backup, but just doesn't get enough consistent minutes on this team.

Duncan Robinson D

Too much money invested into a limited player, but he seems to have struggled with the pressure that comes with a big contract.

Spoelstra A

He and the coaching staff deserves full credit for dealing with all the injuries this year and having Miami win the East. At some point the coaching staff has to accept Miami is not a good 3-point shooting team, though, and find ways to get the team better 2-point shots.

I feel like recency bias is creeping in to a lot of the Herro grades. Yes, he was pretty poor in the playoffs prior to getting injured, but he had a stellar regular season. 21/5/4 as a 22yr old...

I didn’t read OPs full post and just did my playoff grades. regular season Herro deserved an A- at least but playoff Herro averaged 12.6ppg and shot 40% from the field and 22% from three.

Additionally when Herro played we had a net rating of -7.7 per 100 possessions, the worst mark on the team. When he didn’t play we had a net rating of 12.8 points per 100 possessions, also the highest mark out of the players who actually got minutes.

I am such a big Herro fan and have always been a believer from the day he was drafted but man… his playoff run literally couldn’t have gone any worse.
