Re: The future is not looking good so far for the top 2020 NBA draftees
Obi - It's a fan favorite. He is very hardworking, a great locker room guy, a great scorer near the rim, and very athletic. Needs to improve in defense and shooting from deep. He is unfortunate to play in the same position as Randle with very limited playing time (averages 14m when Randle plays).
The Front Office needs to solve this logjam quickly. In the last 19 games of the season, he was really exciting. He even shot 41% from 3 (he shot 23% in the prior games), played passable defense, and had 57/41/78. In the 10 games, he started this season he averaged: 20/7/3 with 57/44/82 and 69TS%. He should thrive in a fast-paced team.

Wiseman - lost all season due to injury. He has a great size and some nice offensive skills. I just do not like his fit for GSW. At least for now. He needs to get better at the defensive end and as a rebounder.

Funny how a lot of the better players were taken later in the draft. Haliburton, Bane, Maxey, Vassell

It's only been 2 years. I'd wait to year 5 to judge this draft class.

A bit early for this. Ant Man and Ball look legit. Too early to sleep on Patrick Williams, really nice shooting numbers and didn't regress despite the team upgrading a lot in the offseason. Okoro, Okongwu, and Hayes need to show something soon or a change of scenery. Toppin still has potential. Advidja needs to make a leap next season. Jalen Smith showed a lot more after being traded to Indiana. There are some good names down the list. Haliburton, Cole Anthony, Bey, Bane, Maxey

Patrick Williams - He just played 17 games this season until be out due to an injury. He strikes as a future great 2-way player. He even shot 51% from deep in a small sample. He gets limited usage playing as a starter next to four 20M+ guys (with 3 offensive-minded players with heavy usage). He was playing PF but I do not know if he has at the moment the frame to play in this position.

Onyeka Okongwu - After missing the first 2 months of the season, he had a good performance behind Capela as a shot-blocker rim runner. He should earn more playing time. Maybe Atlanta moves Capela to address the logjam.

1996 was also a strong draft even outside of Kobe and Nash. Iverson, Camby, Allen, Abdur Rahim, Walker, Peja, Jermaine O'Neal. Both Iverson and Allen fit the 5x All-Star, 2x All-NBA criteria. Camby was also a rock solid defensive player, including DPOY and 4x All-Defense.
1997 you've got Duncan, McGrady, Billups, who all fit the criteria.
1998 you've got Carter, Dirk, and Pierce all in the Top 10, they all fit the criteria.
So yah, there's lots of examples of strong drafts over the years.
Well guys, OP was only talking about TOp 10. 2020 had Haliburton, Maxey, Cole Anthony, Desmond Bane outside top 10, this class will be just fine
Yes there has been some gems relatively late in the draft, with Maxey and Bane sticking out. Like I said, perhaps too quick to judge, but top 10 feels a bit lackluster. Let's see next seaspn

Go down the last 40 years of nba drafts and find one top 10 draft class with 3 or more players who make at least 5 nba all star games and 2 all nba teams. I think that’s a good criteria.
Name me any other draft besides those two draft classes.
Some people will say 1996 class also cause of Kobe and nash. But Kobe and nash were selected outside the top 10.
So stop complaining. 2020 draft class is alright. Not great but not 2000/2013 bad.

I said top 10 draft picks. I’m going by the original poster top 10 complaints that’s it’s a weak draft. We all know lots of good to great players are picked after the top 10 (Giannis and Jokic)
Green was 2nd round pick. So you can axe 2012 off your list
Same for crossing 2011 off your list. Leonard was 15th
Thompson was 11
Butler was the last pick in first round so you are are left
Walker is as 9th but only one all nba.
2010 only George and cousins all nba 2 or more times so cross that off your list
So the only years I missed were 2008/2009.

Many in 2020 had no training camps or summer league.

Re: The future is not looking good so far for the top 2020 NBA draftees
idk 2 years in and 2 very good prospects seems pretty legit.
Sure last year's draft was one of the best but it's likely at least another will break out from the 2020 draft, a lot of breakouts have happened in the 4th/5th year.
Seems like it'll be an average draft and getting 3 all-stars out of the top 10 picks seems average.

Okungwu has been coming along rather nicely for the Hawks, I don't know what most of you are seeing otherwise. He is definitely a long-term rotation piece for the Hawks. I don't think many Hawks fans would even entertain the idea of trading him unless it was a no brainer.

Not every draft is an amazing one, and this one isn’t near the 2000 nba draft. Calm down they’re ok, give them time.

Except for Edwards and LaMelo, all the other top 10 draft picks are actually looking like busts. Busts in a sense that I don't see them even as long-term role players, which is the least you could hope for such high draft picks.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but what have the likes of Wiseman, Patrick Williams, Okoro, Okungwo, Hayes, Obi Topping, and Avdija been doing? Or am I being too premature/harsh?
Underwhelming I could agree with.
But busts? Too hard, too early, imho.

Sorry bro, 20 yr old Antman avg 25 pts per game in his first playoffs. He will carry this class. Legit best player in the league potential. Buy in now, he is the one...

I'm still fairly high on Okungwu and when healthy looked very good - particularly defensively.
