How about Luka's playoff defense in comparison to MJ?

I don't know how their D is comparable, but I know that MJ was swept 2x in first 3 years, winning only 1 game in his first 3 playoffs. You and some others are criticising Luka for not making Finals. ;)

What do you mean you don't know? You posted offensive numbers comparing the two of them, go source the defensive ones!

Please find them, if you want. I compared only their production. Watching him back then, I haven't exactly feeling that D was the most important for him in the beginning. Things have changed over his career of course.

Honest question here, do you think Luka is the best player to ever play the game of basketball? Or as good as MJ? Cause that's the impression we get from you.

They aren't the same age.

I kinda doubt that they were in ECF in his rookie year because of him.

I hope that you agree, that Boston has better team that Maverick with Knicks' waste. ;)

Tatum hasn't won anything yet. Luka has won everything in Europe, with Real and NT.

I'm not saying that Luka is comparable with MJ, his playoffs numbers are.

https://www.nba.com/stats/alltime-leaders/?PerMode=PerGame&SeasonType=Playoffs&StatCategory=PTS

Not sure if you watched the playoffs that year, but Tatum was absolutely the best player on that ECF team. He went head to head with Bron as a ROOKIE.

So you are comparing him to Jordan.
The comparison does not even make sense because Jordan was an elite defender.

You have problem with reading. I'm comparing only their offensive production. Nothing else.

MJ was a first team all NBA defender his fourth year in the NBA. That same season he won defensive player of the year...

How you gonna say I have a problem with reading when you can't make a proper sentence?

Either way offensively Jordan is much better. Led the league in scoring in his 4th year of his career. You also said Jordan didn't play much defense at this time in his career.. but he also won defensive player of the year that season as well. Honestly comparing Luka to Jordan is just setting yourself up for disappointment. Why do that to your favorite player

Meh, i'm already past this debate long time ago, just like with Trae. There is no debate to me but some people will come up with just about anything that is or isn't relevant and spin it around just so it fits their narrative. I have my own eyes and i watch games, that's good enough for me. Can't wait to see what Mavs will come with next season and hopefully they can at least upgrade their center position.

You know you love Luka....you make good points about how good he is. I will never like an offensive player over an overall player that is great on both sides. So I know it’s preference and bias because I have never seen a Luka type player win without being solid on defense

If Luka shows up in shape and limited the turnovers and illogical low % step back 3s, he can kill ALL the conversation and we would ALL agree....

Spoiler:
that Luka was second or third to either Jokic or Giannis lol

You're doing great job of dragging me back into these discussions over and over again :D

I don't love him lol, i prefer women :P But i am a fan, he is from my country, why wouldn't i support him? Kobe was my fav player for MANY years and he still is but obviously he's not playing anymore so it just happens that i like Doncic's game more than anyone elses. I'm also glad Mavs picked him up because they were one of my top teams growing up.

I appreciate your post- A Slovian should back Luka 100%

And like I have said, I don’t think it’s a foregone collusion Luka doesn’t become great at defense. We have never seen him in great shape… yet

Tell me o wise one, what has Porzingas done in this league for you to rate him so high? Or has the hate for Luka clouded your ability to realize that KP is really not a winning piece?

Hell man, you can hate Luka all you want. I'm not here to agree or disagree with your distain for him but Christ, stay consistent man. KP as the basis of your argument isn't going to win you any debates.

KP is what he has always been. He gave the Mavs 20/9/2blks one season. He became a bad player after playing with Luka. You can't be a bad player producing those numbers while another player is ball hogging.

So you're using stats as the base of your argument like most casual fans who box score watch and don't actually watch games.

I think he is trying to say that Luka made KP a worse or bad player. Apparently KP was a young Kareem Abdul-Jabbar before he went to the Mavs. That Doncic kid is the devil sucking out the talent from everyone he plays with

Oh dear, that one went completely over your head. Sigh, I'm not going to lie, I'm a little disappointed with your replies. You're everywhere in this thread hating on Luka, and that isn't my issue. As I said in a previous post, that's completely ok. You don't like him, that's ok. But to use Porzingis as one of your examples as to why you dislike Luka and think he's trash humoured me especially because you used stats as the base of your entire argument (which is the very essence of today's nba fan). And then when challenged on it, you pulled out an all star appearance as your retort.

I shouldn't be surprised, I really shouldn't. I thought I'd get a debate out of you but instead I leave this thread disappointed that yet another modern day fan doesn't actually watch the product, just the box scores. :(

Yes, and he isn't special in that regard, he is just exposed for it and doing it publicly. NBA players are obsessed with NBA media.
