Re: OT: TV and Movies
What's the deal with the "leaks"? I'm assuming Disney has already ret-conned everything in the Star Wars universe anyways, whether it be intentional or through incredibly lazy writing/story-telling. Hell, Lucas already shattered the mystique of the force way back in the first prequel movie more than 20 years ago, and it's only snow-balled from there. Which is kind of why I roll my eyes every time SW nerds argue over what's "canon". Like dude, nothing has mattered since Return of the Jedi and more importantly, it's fictional lore. Whatever you want to be canon, is canon.

You got into a pretty incredible episode of TV.
Yeah, that was a good one. Amazing to think how long ago that was filmed. We filmed that scene in March 2020, the week schools started shutting down because of the pandemic. I haven't been in anything since (combination of pandemic and time constraints).
I could have gotten a few extra seconds of screentime, but the actor who played Kreel couldn't figure out how to drive the classic car up the driveway. Stick shift issues, I believe. The plan was to drive up, get out, look at the house, then walk in - I was going to be carrying a rug behind them. But since he had trouble with the car, a transportation crew member (or the like, I could be wrong on the person's exact job) put on the actor's shirt and hat and drove the car. Thus, they had to cut before the family got out and couldn't do the entire walking up to the house bit.
DAMN STICK SHIFTS!

This is a great story. Very cool.
Once upon a time, a movie with Patrick Warburton was being filmed in my hometown and this scene was taking place outside a high school. They wanted extras to play football in the background so I joined in. I ended up catching a deep touchdown pass right in front of the scene and was so excited but it ended up not making the cut. It was a tiny little movie anyways but would have been cool.

All Star Wars analysis is better when read aloud in C-3PO's voice.

I *sometimes* read Ron’s posts in the Ron Swanson voice. Does that count?

Have Star Wars aficionados likes anything since RotJ? Seems **** on any new SW show is par the course. Episode 1 and the Last Jedi were pretty bad but the others were good movies/streaming shows.
Fully admit I’m a very casual watcher of SW but I don’t get the hatred the hardcore SW ppl have for anything new (although seems mandalorian is loved at least..?).

I would say Clone Wars, Rebels, and Mandalorian were excellent. Rogue One was great. Obi Wan is pretty good. Boba Fett was decent. The new trilogy ranged from terrible to meh. Haven’t seen Solo.

The “30 for 30” doc on Buster Douglas’ upset of Mike Tyson is super compelling. I wasn‘t aware that Buster was a lifelong soft mama’s boy whose mother unexpectedly passed away 20 days before his fight with Tyson. No way he wins that fight without that motivation.

Ron Swanson wrote:Obi-Wan is terrible. Sorry, it is what it is. Disney/Star Wars has been pumping out mediocre movies and shows for the sole purpose of "fan service" for a while now, but this might be peak "why did they need to make this?" for me. Nothing has any real consequences (of course, we know all the main characters survive) which just kills any sort of suspense or build-up. And the expendable characters are just bland, cookie-cutter Sith baddies with no real reason to exist in the context of the already established narrative.
The Vader/Obi-Wan confrontation already happening this early is so damn forced. It's like the showrunners know that it's all fans care about, so better shoe-horn it in early in the series so people don't realize the entire rest of the show is just filler, I guess? Also:Spoiler:
I agree that the story and writing are just plain bad, but the main thing I can't get over is how terrible it all looks. Everything is so flat and desaturated; the cinematography is just awful. Not to mention the multiple laughable action sequences.

I don't hate anything that's new. I generally just like continuity because I think that's an essential mark of good storytelling. Some of the shows have done a great job contributing to SW lore.
