Granted they have that incredible core and were fortunate to get Klay back at almost full strength, but the fact they are here now is a tribute to how well run that organization is. Most would have torn it down after Durant left and Klay was hurt that badly, but patience and some shrewd trades and drafting, and here they are at the top of the mountain again.
Pretty much the antithesis of the bungling and mismanagement we've endured here to take an incredibly promising situation and mess it up to the point we are left hoping for a miracle off season that might get us a shot at one championship before it all collapses.

They have good ownership. Harris allowed himself to be bullied by Silver, and hire the Colangelos, and then went into an off-season without a freaking GM. One of the most embarrassing things that organization has ever done. How do you go into free agency and draft without a damn GM? And naturally, the end result was Zhaire Smith. Harris is a terrible owner and deserves all the misfortunes he gets.

They technically did tear it down by shelving Curry for a decent chunk of the rebuild. Got quite a few high picks during that era.
Helped that the TWolves gifted them a first and a better fitting player with Curry.

That was because Steph broke his wrist tho right? Netted them Wiseman which ended up being nothing but yeah that Minny trade was robbery.
Also, I think it’s so funny that Haslem got mad a Draymond for correctly predicting a Celtics finals trip. I get that current players probably shouldn’t comment on the outcome of a series but he was 100% right lol.

Proper allocation of assets. Russell at the time was viewed as a definite asset, and they took advantage of Minny wanting to placate KAT.
Can't really say they tore it down, because that would have entailed getting rid of Green when he was at his most valuable and maybe even released Klay. Signing him and keeping Green was a nod toward a semi run back attempt once Klay was healthy, but a lot of good fortune was involved as well.

It baffles me Haslem is still a player in the league. I swore he became an assistant coach like 5 years ago. Guess the franchise is doing him a favor keeping him on a player salary at age 47.

Knowing what you know now and how things turn out to be..
Would you pick Westbrook over Kevin Love in the 2008 draft like how it turned out?
Would you pick an MVP caliber player that is hard to build a championship team over an ALL NBA player that is easier to be part of a championship team?

Would you rather have prior mental issues Ben Simmons over Marcus Smart?
Ben Simmons was an all nba player while being part of all defensive team.
Marcus smart is DPOY player. Just averaged 12ppg but is a semi-ok to ok 3pt shooter.

These aren't fair questions. When you're picking high, you have to go for talent and upside. How they end up is as much a product of the organization and system as anything else. Picking Simmons and Westbrook in those cases are both no brainers.

I’d rather have pre-mental breakdown Ben Simmons play next to Tatum/Brown by a wide margin.

Two different answers, depending on what I'm roleplaying.
If I'm the GM, I'm taking Love. Like you said, he's easier to build with.
If I'm the owner, I'm taking Westbrook because he drives far more revenue.
Personally, I would have taken Eric Gordon over both of them. And Jerryd Bayless over both of them, too, lol.

On paper yes.
In real life, Smart provides more spacing to empower Smart and Tatum. Ben would take away possessions from Smart and Tatum, where you are likely to generate better points per possessions with those two creating on halfcourt. You dont need Ben’s transition baskets with Jaylen and Tatum at the wing. Lastly, you’d wont be able to max Robert Williams with Ben and Williams crowding the dunker spot.
The problem with Ben is unlike Smart, Ben has to have the ball to max his value. If you dont need Ben’s transition offense and minimal ability to create on halfcourt, he’d then be at the dunker spot. And if he’s at the dunker spot he’d likely make it tough for your center/rim protector’s life on offense.
Would having Ben Simmons on the court better than Robert Williams or Smart? Given what Celts roster is? I dont think so.

It would be so Sixers for the Celtics to win a championship with Tatum

always a jump shot away.

The Celtics did this the right way. They've grown their core together through years of trials meanwhile we shuffle pieces every season.

It'a Al Horford and Ime Udoka, but mostly Udoka...last season and even the most of this regular season the consensus here was that we are better than Boston, and look at them now - they are so much better than us at this point it's not even a question. But just give them Rivers and give us Udoka and I'd bet it's game on within half a season or so haha.

Celtics had a vision. Stretch 5 (sullinger? Baynes? Al?) and iso scoring (IT, Kyrie Tatum), positionless basketball (smart, jaylen, tatum, Al).
We just pile talent then made all the excuse that it will work with taglines like “against the grain” “violence at the rim”.
We’re like a GM in fantasy league who just draft who the default ranking says to be picked hoping that other teams would trade for the guys you pick.

That sounds like some revisionist thinking. They’ve had midgets in their lineup up until recently, so it’s hard to say they’ve had a vision for positionless basketball. Every team in the league wants iso scoring and stretch 5’s, including us.
I do agree that some continuity would help us.
