These excuses need to stop. Yes Boston's run in the 4th was insane, but that is what they've done all season long and it's also showing that some of you over here haven't seen many Celtics games this season. Ok the White shooting was an extra bonus though, but Tatum had a horrible shooting night instead. And we know that White can do this because he has done this for the Spurs as well during his career.

And again, the previous two rounds against the Bucks and the Heat were brutal defensive games and they fought through, especially the Heat series was tough because they had only one day of rest after the Bucks game 7 and had to travel to Miami the next day. They played the Heat 7 games and only had 1 day of rest in between. Facing the smaller Warriors now, after 4 days of rest, is suiting them much better especially lenght wise. But we'll see how Kerr will respond in game 2.

By the way, talking about Boston keeping up with this shooting. Otto Porter shot 80% and Iguodala 75%, you better pray they keep shooting like that.

Al Horford looked really hungry last night. He really wants that ring, ''Playoff Al'' showed up and it was game over. Old Al really discovered the fountain of youth.

You as Warriors fan should know Durant loses his shoe like every other game because someone slightly steps on his shoe. Again here someone stepped on edge of Curry's shoe. This happens constantly in NBA games and it's never a foul unless there is real body contact. Stepping slightly on feet is not a foul. Only reason anyone even noticed this is because Curry doesn't tie his shoes tightly.

This. There were literally multiple threads created after the celtics made massive comebacks or had hot shootings nights during the POs where people were complaining that basketball is all about making shots now etc.

I wouldn't bank on Al Horford sustaining that kind of performance, but he definitely looks reinvigorated. He never had a significant injury and obviously came into the season very well prepared. The fountain of youth is essential all about health and willingness to work very hard on your body. Props to him.

Overwhelming votes Boston wins in 6, if Boston wins game 2 then it does not look good for Warriors

Question.

What would be a greater story.
Gsw wins and curry get fmvp?

Or boston wins and horford gets fmvp?

I'm afraid that if Horford gets the FMVP, the focus will be more so on the likes of Tatum, Brown and maybe even Smart not stepping up when it matters most instead of celebrating Horford playing out of his mind all year and getting even better as the post-season goes on.

Been saying this for years. It’s clear at this point. At least man up to it and admit. KD saved Curry’s legacy, choking against them and blowing a 3-1 lead and the two rings. I know they got so excited when Curry was making wide open shots and ready to trash KD.

Warriors in game 1 were 19-45… the only time they hit more 3’s this postseason was game 6 against the Grizz where they were 20-53.

Both teams have been nearly identical from 3 these playoffs.

Boston - 13.8/37.3 = 37.1%
GS - 13.8/36.2 = 38.2%

Both teams shot above their percentage today. Boston hit 2 more 3’s on 4 less shots. That wasn’t the difference though. It was the fact the Warriors scored 4 points in a 6 minute span in the 4th.

Warriors shot closer to their average percentage than Celtics. I also never implied the Warriors didn’t make more 3’s than average but their percentage was more in standard range.

And that 4th quarter 3 point shooting definitely iced the game. They were around 12/29 from 3 before the 4th quarter. So already above their average. Celtics defense was great but you don’t have a 24 point turn around without lights out shooting too. They went 9/12 from 3 in the 4th quarter.

Celtics were down 12 entering the 4th. Curry sat crucial minutes of the 4th when the Celtics made the initial part of the 17-0 run that ultimately ended the game.

Golden state had 108 points, 16 in the 4th quarter. Boston doesn't need to shoot 17/26 from 3's if the GS offense is going to resemble anything like the 4th quarter going forward.

Celtics defense was great. They shut down the Warriors while Curry sat early and he never found his rhythm after reentering but 9-12 3 point shooting is 100% part of the reason for a 24 point swing in the 4th quarter.

Wide open shots

If GS wants celtics guys to jot shoot lights out they need to defend them.

Nba players, in rhythm, shoot crazy hugh percentages when the closest defender is 8 feet away.

2-3 of their 4th quarter 3’s were contested. One of White and Brown’s 3’s. Before their last miss, Celtics were 9/11 from 3.

82% is not normal for open 3’s in the NBA and I would imagine playoff or finals open 3 numbers are even lower than regular season percentages.

Match up Advantage

Tatum Wiggins Celtics
Smart Curry Warriors
Horford Green Celtics
Williams Looney Celtics
Brown Thompson Celtics
White Poole Celtics
Williams Igadoula Warriors
Pritchard Porter Even
Celtics are pretty loaded.

Naw GS style has never worked as well against east teams compared to west teams..The east usually plays a tougher brand of basketball that gives the warriors fits

Celtics stopped employing drop coverage and went to full switching defense. Outside of Steph nobody else can create on this team. Poole sometimes can, but only against teams that don't have rim protectors. Since the Celtics have Timelord, Poole ends up being a net negative when he's on the floor.

It's worth noting this has been true the entire playoffs for the Warriors, the only reason they've gotten away with it is because they've been dominating the boards. Well they didn't have their usual 10-15 rebound advantage this game, the Celtics tied it on the boards. Thus, the Warriors lose. It's just math.

Good observation. Only time i noticed Pool was in the game was when his shot went almost over the backboard. Bostons D is something else man, really enjoyable and fun.

Boston shooting should revert to normal but GS shoot pretty good as well.

Actually, if anything we can expect GS percentages to be lower from 3 in game 2 if BOS defense has found answers as it seems, while BOS percentages will naturally drop but not as much as one would expect without any significant adjustments from Kerr.

I'm still taking Boston in seven. Golden State will adjust quickly. This is going to be a war.

Durant is quietly rooting hard for celtics but keeping it cordial on twitter

And somewhere kyrie is quietly rooting for golden state
