I mean we’re up 1-0 in the finals, with him averaging 26/7/6 on a 58% TS in the playoffs. So it kinda does seem like it is good enough.

Bad shooting games happen, we were still +16 when he was in, and -4 when he sat. The fact that we won with him having a poor shooting game is only a good thing.

That's fair, but i highly doubt White and Horford will be able to repeat the 3pt performance they had in this game, we're gonna need JT to step up big time.

I hope we are over the high nerves thing. Looked so bad early on. I think this is where Smart really shines, he has that Butler-esque mentality. Horford even played shook until the 4th quarter basically.

It was great seeing everyone come around. Brown got that killer instinct and was amazing. White I think has similar confidence or maybe it's just his play making and reads don't really falter.

Now Tatum...He gets over whatever mental block this is then we are golden. Happy he contributed other ways but those wide open 3's were painful to watch him brick.

Alright what do I do until Sunday night?

Completely agree, but he’s bounced back every time he’s shot like crap these playoffs. Hopefully that’s the case again, because stealing both games in GS? I’m getting too excited even at the possibility.

Yeah, i hope they dont come with the attitude that getting one game on the road is enough, hopefully they have the hunger and desire to go up 0-2, that'd be huge.

Like I mentioned in the G1 PG thread, JB scored or assisted on 20 of the Cs 23 pts to start the 4th so his shotmaking/playmaking extended into the start of the 17-0 run. Halfway thru the Q, we were tied w/ the Warriors.

ConstableGeneva wrote:First of all, the Cs were **** awesome in the 4th. They consistently made the right plays and were relentless with their attack of the paint (leading to open threes). So I don't want to take away credit from them.

But I think part of the Warriors collapse was their arrogance. Once they had that 15-pt lead and a double-digit lead heading into the 4th, they were already sure they've won the game. They have a ridiculous 4th quarter net rating prior to last night and have been great at protecting big leads.

What I'm saying is I don't think we'll catch them by surprise again. That was the game to "steal". But objectively speaking, if we keep playing the way we did in that 4th -- defense and ball movement (esp with White instead of Rob) -- not sure what combo of personnel Dubs can put on the floor can slow us down.

Make it hard for him, but Curry will still get his. Limit the others as we've done this entire playoff run.

I thought we played a good game even before the 4th quarter. Maybe good is not the right word but good enough to give us a chance going into the 4th. Not many teams survive a 92pt 3 quarter explosion from the Warriors and we hung in there. Defense wasn't playing well and they were shooting on fire and our offense kept us in the game without Tatum's shot falling.

I fully expect GSW to respond in Game 2 but I wouldn't be surprised at all if its another close game.

Here are his statlines following a sub-40% FG% playoff game:

30/9/4 on 75/57/100
31/8/5 on 50/14/88 (16 FTAs)
30/13/5 on 46/30/83
29/3/8 on 50/50/80
39/5/6 on 45/31/90

Expect a 30+ pt game with good efficiency in game 2. He hasn't had a B2B shooting dud for 4-plus months. I don't think he starts now.

There is a lot to improve off of from game 1. After two slugfests in a row, this style of ball has to be a breath of fresh air for our guys. They let Curry go berserk in the first quarter and it didn’t even phase them. I think there is a real, real chance to go up 2-0 here

Btw, Green is a fanstic fit with the Warriors. Prime Horford was 18/9/5... I think Green is a very good role player, I think Horford is absolutely better than him. I actually kinda think he might be better now.
Good assessment:

Btw, again, Klay/Steph and Poole are no world beaters on defense... at all. GSW's team defense is good tho. I still think they will bet on White/Horfie not making as many shots, but I also believe both Tatum and Brown should be plenty successful on offense in this series, win-lose or draw.
To me, MIL and MIA's defenses seemed a lot more physical. Klay/Steph/Poole cannot play physical
Dray's good.
Wiggins is decent, but not a defensive stopper.

This is spot-on. Defense will still win this series for us. In the 1st Q, we stayed afloat because we were just trading baskets. In the 3rd, we couldn't get stops and were giving up offensive boards. It was when we got consistent stops (near end of 1st half and entire 4th) that we went on our double-digit runs.

I'm loving this team on the road... can we just stay and play rest of the series there?!?! Amazing.

Easier to get stops when the whole world knows what GSW will do every single time!

Anyone drilling Jayson can feel free to find a different team to root for. What he couldn't do offensively (clearly due to his shoulder), he was able to do in other places. Just a terrific all-around game.

Seeking knowledge of the future, Steve Kerr went to the Oracle Arena in Oakland and asked it, "I have rallied my troops for battle against the Celtics. Will I win?"

The Oracle responded, "If you turn this into a three point shootout, a great empire will fall."

Now smug in his knowledge of the future, Kerr went into battle. He turned it into a three point shootout. And a great empire fell.

Not only did Curry got nuts in the 1st quarter but all their guys went nuts in the 3rd quarter.

we were able to withstand both of those runs, not be phased by them at all, punch back when they punched them and we not only won but won with both teams emptying their benches at the end...on the road.. and WE are the team with no finals experience who should have been wicked nervous out there in game 1.

guess what? game 2 is over. our nerves are gone (at least they should be for the most part). we're up 1-0 and GS lost their home court advantage.

Let's get em again in game 2!
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Kerr really has no choice because his personnel is designed for a 3-point shootout.

You can't even say GSW has a reliable mid-range game.

GSW is all about 3-point shots, drives to the basket, and drop passes.

Completely agree, but he’s bounced back every time he’s shot like crap these playoffs. Hopefully that’s the case again, because stealing both games in GS? I’m getting too excited even at the possibility.

They better go all out in game 2 with the way they’ve played at home in the playoffs. It’s almost a blessing GS has home court.
