90-92 Malone
93-97 Hakeem
98 and 99 Malone

90-92 Hakeem was injured and frustrated with the Rockets while Malone was in his scoring prime.

93-97: Hakeem was in his prime and eliminated Malone twice in that span. Malone did win a mvp and eliminated Hakeem in the 97 wcf but I would still take Hakeem that year due to the last of his prime years and seemed more well rounded.

98 and 99: Hakeem was old and beat up while Malone was still going strong for his age.

That sweet, sweet illegal screen where Malone broke every aspect of the screening rules to free up Stockton, lol.

Just looked at the numbers and Malone did not have a good series why Hakeem had an awesome one. Just that Hakeem's teammates came up short compared to Malone.
That team needed a veteran point guard like a Mark Price, BJ Armstrong, or Terry Porter. Heck Vern Fleming was even available and he was around 6'5" or so. Would have gave Stockton some problems.

MY favorite part of that play is Barkley's atrocious defensive awareness. Dude was so bipolar. An offensive savant and utterly clueless on defensive rotations.

The first time I saw that play I was blown away by how stupidly Barkley played it. I don't know what he was even trying to do, was he going for the steal or was it an all time terrible closeout? It's not like Pippen was any type of threat to hit a three at that point of his career.

He routinely made mind blowing mistakes on that end of the court. You know how we marvel at some players shot selection and go why you would do that. He did that all the time defensively.

1990 - close, but Hakeem. His defensive advantage is enough to give him the edge. I am very high on his defense during that time.
1991 - Malone, Hakeem missed too many games in RS
1992 - Malone, it was one of the weakest Hakeem seasons and one of the strongest from Malone
1993 - Hakeem easily
1994 - Hakeem easily
1995 - Hakeem, but this is much closer. Malone was better in RS and he played very well in h2h series.
1996 - Malone, Hakeem didn't have a better RS and underperformed in the playoffs, while Malone had one of his better seasons
1997 - Hakeem, he outplayed Malone h2h and I don't think the RS gap is that big to be honest, healthy Rockets played around 60-64 wins pace but Hakeem was forced to carry them in absence of Barkley and Drexler
1998 - Malone easily
1999 - Malone easily
