The Corey's wrote:Golden State was all over the Celtics defensively until their legs got tired.

Curry is going to get his. That's just the way it's gonna be.

Wiggins can't be out here scoring 20 a game though so they're gonna need to figure that out.

But if the warriors game plan is to double Tatum and leave the 3 open then they're cooked. They acted lost game like it was a anomaly for the Celtics to be that successful and it's pretty disrespectful.

Draymond saying the warriors dominated the first 42 minutes was hilarious. Celtics lost quarter 1 by 4 points and outright won quarters 2 and 4.

If that's how they feel about the game then maybe they really don't know what the Celtics are about. Either way, I think last night was great for the Celtics going forward to know that they can take the warriors punches and still have a chance. None of this crawling into a hole and folding ****.

Bob Voulgaris made a similar point on Simmons’ podcast after the game. Basically that GS did the same thing against Dallas (not challenging threes strongly) and they got away with it. Essentially he said GS is making a mistake if they think it’s simply bad luck and they have more adjustments to make than vice versa.

For reference, in the middle of one of the most legendary postseason run of all time, Dirk laid these eggs:

Three games in the conference finals or later that are all worse than Tatum's game 1 once you factor in defense and playmaking.

The only players that don't have bad games in the playoffs are guys that don't play in the playoffs (aka fake stars). Give me the star that has bad games in the conference finals every year over the star that looks amazing getting swept in the first round all the time.

Trading for horford is gonna go down as one of the best trades of all time if we go on to win banner 18. I loved the trade at the time but I didn't think it was a championship level trade.... Which, it was.

Lineups with White + Tatum + Horford on the floor are outscoring opponents by 25.2 points per 100 possessions in the playoffs.

This is a much smaller sample size but with Horford as single big on the floor in the playoffs -- no Theis, no Rob, no Grant -- Celtics are outscoring opponents by 30.1 pts per 100 possessions. Imagine if we had Alperen Sengun instead!

Watch the game bro, he didn't really make many mistakes other than mysteriously dropping off of Curry one time. But Rob was doing that too so I wonder if that was some big brain reverse psychology strategy by Ime.

I watched the game. Theis is horrible. Can’t wait till they dump him in the offseason. Priority one in the offseason is to upgrade big man depth and it starts by jettisoning Theis

Maybe we can do a three way trade and get Giannis and Embid for Theis. That would solve our depth problem and we might be able to reach the finals next year.

Or maybe we could not just play German Semi Ojeleye.

Tatum did everything well yesterday besides score. The casual will look at that game and say he played like trash. Not even close. Good to get his bad shooting game out the way in a win though. I'll be surprised if he scores under 20 again.

White is what we imagined having Hayward was like in the postseason. Except this version of him is more aggressive, is a better defender, and has better oncourt chemistry with Smart and the Jays.

I don't remember by how much but our smallball lineups are outduelling the Dubs' smallball lineups by a ridiculous amount. They so far couldn't play Poole and Curry together without compromising their defense. Pritchard was more playable for us than Poole for them at least in game 1. Their "Poole Party Lineup" (what a gross nickname) was killing teams on the regular but was their worst lineup against us (-9 in just 3 minutes).

I said it on the GB thread before the series started, but the Celtics literally have the perfect lineup to counter the Warriors small lineups. Now that doesn’t mean we will win the series or anything, but Smart/White/Jaylen/Tatum/Al is TOUGH.

Game 1 was similar to that of what happened in Game 4 of the 2008 Finals.

I don't think anyone's been bashing Ime since the turnaround though, right? You really can't bash on a coach who got his .500 squad up to the 2nd seed and now playing in the Finals. Early on in the season the criticism made sense somewhat, but there's been no reason to really go after him in months now.

A few still do. One critic has 2D basketball pedigree.

Tatum is a team defense wrecking ball, there’s a ton of clips like this from the game.
