Horrible news. No quality player goes to a team that doesn’t have a coach they trust.

I wish I knew why.

Hoping for Portland’s coach terry stotts to take over

I’m hoping this is a sign we’re rebuilding

Guessing Ainge is gunning for a rebuild. Snyder was probably a bit burned out by the proxy war with Lindsey, ownership change, new GM, and constant calling out of his inability to try new things until it's too late (last part was largely warranted). He probably didn't want to go through another rebuild.

Said in reference to Utah's trade assets in a potential Doncic deal.

Quinn is a great coach and we will miss him. I do think he is correct though, this team didn't listen to him this year. I expect changes to the team as well. Doubt it means getting rid of Spida or Gobert but the cupboards are open and everyone else is available. I expect Spida to move to PG if he doesn't get traded. I'm expecting more length and athleticism coming our way.

I have mixed feelings about this. Quinn is a good coach, but struggled to adjust on the fly and was often outcoached in the playoffs. Could have been limitations with what he had to put on the court, though. I guess we’ll find out how good or average he was in the near future.

New coach will have a very serious challenge if he will try to make defense even worse and number of DM attempts even bigger. That is two department where coach Q. excels beyond comparison. But may be he will be able to compensate that by some game management - like riding hot hand and adjusting rotation to answer opposite moves of opposite coaches ... something like we saw in both conference finals.

I wish Quinn the best, but it was the right move. He really was unable to improve over the last 3 years, and the team looked check out most of this season. Wish him the best, but a step in the right direction for the Jazz.

All of those are huge downgrades. I think we have our next coach on staff: Alex Jensen. Other alternative is Johnnie Bryant.

Sorry for Quinn, but if your team doesnt work and you have talent (and he had talent last year) you have to change something.
New voice, and someone without fear of change rotations and sitting down players who arent playing as they should

I would have Igor Koskoskov on the list too if he hadn't just got hired by the Nets. Perhaps a new assistant job does not take him off the prospective list? I didn't think he deserved to be fired from Phoenix after just one season.

I really liked Quin. I thought he was doing a great job building up the players he was given until the expectations skyrocketed and games of high importance hit him straight in the mouth and his two best players decided it's better to settle scores off the floor than to work together for the common goal. Now part of his job is to deal with that and still steer the ship in the right direction so he must bear some of the responsibility too.

With that said, I think a lot of people are massively underestimating Quin's offensive coaching. Donovan Mitchell - fallen off Mike Conley - Royce O'Neale - Bojan - Rudy is not the starting lineup of a team you would suspect is the best offense in the league two years in a row. But his(and the FO's) overreliance on Rudy as a defensive anchor ultimately doomed this team as a serious playoff contender. They just refused even to attempt diversifying our defensive schemes even after the current one was unequivocally destroyed in the playoffs, only for us to see it again this year... the exact same thing.

Overall I'm not as negative on Snyder and not as cheerful about his departure as many here, but I absolutely understand why both the Jazz and Snyder might want to try something different.

I would differ between

- statistically "best offense" which produced big scores against weak or relatively disinterested teams in regular season but crumble when opposite team tighten their defenses ( hence -crumble in PO)

and

- really good offense - robust, diversified, flexible, which can be adjusted to whatever other contenders throw on it when it really matters.

The record of current Jazz on loosing big and even huge leads, especially when it matters most, is something quite special

The thing is... our offense doesn't crumble in the playoffs. It's our defense that crumbles.

Some of its weaknesses are exposed but the offense has not been the culprit of our playoff woes. Overall we've been getting good shots in every single playoff series going back to the Houston series.
