How did the Warriors do in the playoffs last year without him?

Have you seen him tonight, or these playoffs? He's clearly not the player he once was in either end

His playoff numbers are literally the same as theyve mostly always been. Right at or above his averages in every metric.......

Hes obviously worse defensively, and his hot first round series is propping up his numbers. He's been so inconsistent. In both Memphis and Dallas series he was mediocre outside of one hot game in each series. He's more passive.

Anyone else have that feeling you get in certain NBA games....that no matter what happens in the second half the Celtics are not gonna win this game?

Warriors are playing way better defense which is why they are keeping up.

I'm not sure they can bank on Boston's constant turnovers though for offense. Seems like they have serious trouble scoring right now.

Will need to figure it out.

Boston looks like the better team and the Warriors look very vulnerable. I anticipate Boston take this in 5 or 6 games.

Celtics 31-60 from three so far in the finals. Completely unsustainable. But GSW better find a way to win this game. They won’t win the series down 0-2 even with Celtics inevitably cooling down from three.

GSW gotta be nervous as hell...this in their house

To be fair Boston seems to be a better road than home team

Well halftime and I'm not seeing the tremendous GS come out gangbusters. The trailed most of the half, certainly the 1st qtr. Right now it's anybody's game and the Celts are poised for one of their magic runs which should put it away.

Anyway the predictors and prognosticators that said GS was going to "get serous now" are laughable. Both teams could be playing better ball. But man o man this game is up for grabs and if the Celts go up 2-0.....oooo weeee. Wouldn't that be something?

***And I certainly noticed. White gives Curry the blues going forward. Surely the coaches must've noticed that also. White kills him.

They say consistency is the last thing to return after a long layoff from playing. Also for older players. For Klay both of these are intersecting.

Anyway, GSW are playing horribly and are up. Cs not playing near their best and only down 2.

Critical 3RD Q coming up!

Refs will make sure of it tbh. No chance they’re letting their poster childs go down 2-0.

If Klay Thompson keeps this up, he’ll be out of the league before Rodney McGruder.

If they were up 3-0, I might go with you on that. The league will do its best, but a Boston win is definitely within the range of possible outcomes. C'mon, now! Ya gotta believe!!

Him being a top player in this series not aging well and clear case of prisoner of moment bias

Al is fine. He doesn’t force his offense.

Agreed Al is fine , is he was what people saying he was , arguably the celts best player in the playoffs, then you couldn’t afford such a bad half .
He is a supplemental player , trust me I get it, some other guys didn’t

Is tilt a big thing in chess? Like in poker?

Yeps, especially in online blitz; and at lower levels (everyone talks about their "rating tilts", although many of those are just normal variance); but also at the highest levels - Ivanchuk was very prone to meltdowns that prevented him from ever reaching the very top, Geller, etc - and arguably one happened in the last world championship:

The match began with five consecutive high-quality draws, before Carlsen won a closely-contested eight-hour struggle in Game 6 that, with 136 moves, was the longest ever game in a World Chess Championship. Following this loss, Nepomniachtchi's level of play worsened, with Carlsen capitalizing on a series of one-move blunders by Nepomniachtchi in Games 8, 9 and 11 to win another three points. This gave Carlsen a convincing match win with four wins, seven draws and no losses.

Nepo has always been a tilt prone/low stamina player - probably why he won the Candidates tournament when it happened to be broken in two mini-tournaments because of Covid.

Chess is the ultimate war of attrition mentally speaking. It's insane how the best players in the world can think 4-5 steps ahead especially in blitz chess. Every single move needs to have a purpose as making the wrong move even if it's the 1st move in the game can lead to a downhill nightmare that you won't be able to get out of. It's pretty impressive to think of the recoveries that can be made when your down.

Honestly for someone who's been praised for his BB IQ in Dray, it's pathetic to see him get himself this worked up to the point he becomes a liability for his team when he really gets tilted. It's almost Phil Hellmuth level bad.
