Amicable?

Snyder steps down with two years left on his contract and a .585 career coaching record.... Just smile and walk away!

He had enough of the Mitchell-Gobert sniping.

This makes no sense at all. He’s leaving a lot of money on the table. He also missed out on taking over for Coach K at Duke.

Maybe he has an agreement to take over for Pop dual coach/GM if he retires next month?

They should definitely stay in-house and promote Jansen or Johnnie Bryant.

But with new ownership and a new GM Ainge calling the shots, they probably go a different direction and hire Terry Stotts.

He didn’t want to wait to get fired in season by Ainge..

He should have moved sooner and would have had his pick of jobs this off-season, unless he thinks he could slide to Charlotte and coach Melo

The timing of this suggests that he doesn't appear to want to take a job right now. It seems like he's going to take some time off.

If I had to guess, it was a combination of the regime change in Utah along with the Mitchell/Gobert rift that ultimately led to the decision to walk away.

We often talk about how taxing the NBA season is on the players, but we rarely, if ever, take into consideration the toll it has on the coaches. Eight successful seasons for Snyder. There's nothing wrong with taking a year off to refuel.

That’s why he should’ve waited to get fired so he got paid out his contract.
