Last year there were rumours about the Raptors trading Siakam and this year rumours are about OG. I'm not buying the rumours.

Re: [Jake Fisher] The word surrounding OG Anunoby’s trade candidacy
God please let those Gobert rumors be false. He’s one of the most overpaid players.
With him we may do well during the regular season but flame out in the playoffs.
Dude has no offensive game and gets played off the floor in the playoffs.
Matching salary would be troublesome too which is interesting because we would be giving up part of the so called core.
Maybe we are helping to facilitate a trade being the third team while getting some sweetener?

Re: [Jake Fisher] The word surrounding OG Anunoby’s trade candidacy
Since the Raps are not on the verge of a championship, any (sign and) trade is going to have to be a good deal for us. Giving away a lot of assets for Ayton, plus paying him the max, is simply not a Masai thing to do. But if Ayton was willing to accept what he is worth to a winning team (i.e. Jarret Allen salary range), he'd re-sign with the Suns.
So he's not coming to Toronto.

exactly.
Ayton and Rudy are not what this team needs.
Give me a bargain big man.
A Mo Bamba, a Hartenstien, a Jalen Smith all are in that mid level price range.
A Koloko, a Kamagate, even a Mobley... All possibly available at 33 or undrafted (Mobley, Robinson, Diabate) etc.
A value cost big man that protects rim and won't die on every switch.
Spending big money on a 5 that isn't a superstar is bad cap management.

I'm not down on Ayton like most here. Now if Ayton can be had for less than the max and his relationship with the Suns is not fixable, I'd be very open to a OG/Birch for Ayton + 2 2nds type deal.
If not then let's just go get Holmes for very cheap from the Kings. Maybe even a 4th pick + Holmes for OG type deal. How would people feel about that?

Agreed. This is a great draft for bigs and a lot them should be available with our pick. I'd like us to even look at moving one of our main guys to try and get Sharpe in the top 10. Even if it costs us OG. OG to Indiana or Portland if he's (Sharpe) available. If we can pick up Keon from Portland too that'd be great. He has a ton of upside also.
And then get Koloko with our 33rd pick, and sign one of Ibou Badji or Kofi Cockburn if they're undrafted, bring back Bruno, resign Boucher and our team is looking good.
Fred/Flynn/Banton
Trent/Sharpe
Barnes/Yuta
Siakam/Boucher/Bruno
Precious/Koloko/Birch/Cockburn
We could roll out some monster lineups with rim protection and switchability
Barnes/Banton
Siakam
Precious
Boucher
Bruno/Koloko
With Sharpe, Barnes, Precious and Koloko we'd have all the upside in the world and it'd save us from whatever OG would end up costing.
We could roll out perimeter threat lineups with decent size
Fred
Sharpe
Trent
Siakam/Precious
Boucher/Bruno
I'm very high on Koloko and Sharpe. I love OG, but the hope for him is that he'll work and work to become what Shaedon already looks like. Not to mention his injury history. They have similar dimensions and athleticism/strength profile, but lightyears difference in natural feel. I feel horrible saying it...and I think OG can keep getting better, but if we have the chance to pull the trigger on a trade for one of OG, Trent or even Fred for Sharpe, I'd do it.
That would be my perfect (albeit bittersweet) offseason.

TBF it's not like KOC is an "insider" type guy IMO. I don't know one story or anything major he's actually broken. Fischer on the other hand went crazy a year or two ago breaking news, and IIRC some of it even Raptors related. He's the only reason why I'm giving this story some credence.

Re: [Jake Fisher] The word surrounding OG Anunoby’s trade candidacy
It came out on the front of realgm "Raptors" Interested in a trade for Rudy Gobert....So there are obviously some truth to it....On top of multiple sources linking Gobert to the Raptors this offseason its safe to say the Raptors are interested and are prolly making offers on him....
So what will it take to get the Gobert deal done is the question and how far will Masai go? Obviously it will take at least OG and other stuff to make salarys match to get Gobert here....Me personally hate the move and havn't been a fan of Gobert even when he was DPOTY I never trusted the guy in the playoffs...
But that being said Masai knows what he is doing so if he does bring Gobert here he obviously sees Gobert as someone who is a building block to bringing a title back here...But we shall see how it plays out...With so many rumors swirling it seems something is up anyways

Here is the problem with your Theory though about bringing in a "Bamba" "Hartenstein" "Smith" type of player and drafting a big man....We could be wanting to do all them things your suggesting but Masai been trying to do that for years now since Gasol/Ibaka left the team and we end up with Baynes/Birch type of guys....Players in free agency do not sign with the Raptors ...As much as it sucks the history is there to see....
We would love to get Bamba/Hartenstein/Smith but we will try to sign one of them for them to end up on an American team (Cause thats where they feel comfortable in living) Its just a real obstacle we have to deal with....We will try hard to sign these guys and watch them all go to other teams around the league while we end up with the bottom of the barrel C's who will make 0 impact at all for us and then we are stuck with nothing....
Drafting a big at 33 to expect them to come into the League and be difference makers is a big big ask as well .....More chance if we draft a big at 33 he plays his year in 905 then he would with the team....
So then your left with a big hole at C again next year with the same question over and over....This team needs a C who can rim protect blah blah same cycle over and over...
So yeah at the end of the day the only way Raptors have a chance to get an impactfull C is in a trade imo....Its most likely scenario for us to actually get a C who could help us...And sadly you gotta give up something to get something in the NBA Unless your the Lakers.

Precious will be the guy at C in the future most likely. As far as next year, Siakam at C and lots of struggles again defensively....trading for a big time C is farfetched.

There is a lot of truth to what you are saying, and it's becoming clearer every season that FAs simply don't want to come to Canada (the vax mandate restricts the field even more). Overpayment seems to be the only solution, but even then Masai probably felt burnt by the DeMarre Carroll experiment.
At least Hartenstein might have been on the table for us last season, in the minds of many RealGMers (e.g. Alfred). Part of the problem with overpaying him then may have been the desire to give Birch a fair shot, which used up most of the MLE in the process (I thought that was an overpayment, but at least it gives us more salary to throw into the trade machine). With the Lowry S&T and taking Dragic's salary back, Raps were skirting the luxury tax threshold until the Thad trade, and couldn't really make a deal for a legit big. Depending on what Boucher and Thad re-sign for, that's not going to be a problem this season. And having re-established ourselves as a winning team with great young talent, we've become a lot more desireable a location than last summer.
So ... be optimistic!

That Portland scenario just makes too much sense for both sides the more you think about it.
There are multiple guards in this draft that fit the longboi philosophy (Ivey, Mathurin, Sharpe, Daniels) and Precious has relegated OG as the odd man out.
Maxey exposed our lack of talent in the guard rotation and we currently have nobody that can consistently attack the rim off the dribble.
If MU's guy is still there at 7, it feels like this might be the year where we finally pull the trigger on a draft night blockbuster.

I'm guessing/hoping that the only reason there are Gobert rumours is that Jazz are the ones calling for OG and is offering Gobert, as opposed to the Raps are asking for him. We probably asked for Mitchell instead and didn't get anywhere.

Jazz need another dynamic scorer, Vuc can score but its not enough and the defense is a drop off obviously albeit not as much youd think
Pat Williams is a good plug and play player but not a cornerstone piece

I haven't seen Rudy take a jump shot in my entire life. Is his shot broken?
Can we get him the Nurse's pill and watch him shoot lights out?
I mean, we thought Scottie and Precious couldn't bring much offensively.
Lol

Disagree. Pat williams is a true core peice. Up and coming 2-way wing. Needs a healthy year next season he will blossom.
