Re: Tari Eason
Worked out with the Wizards ,Wolves, Hornets, Hawks, Bulls, Thunder, Knicks
future workouts with Cavs, Spurs ,Grizzlies, Rockets
So workouts with all picks 9-19, basically seems to be his range. Eason on the Cavs would be such an interesting fit

Big draft crush on Eason, and always felt like he was going to be a riser.
What are the changes he'll drop past the Spurs, the kind of kid that seems right up their alley.

Wow have times changed. The Spurs used to be perceived as a franchise that preferred international prospects.

Looks like Eason is crashing off the boards with criticism of dumb and bombing workouts.
This thread will be legendary in hindsight.

What do you consider “crashing off the boards”

Everything is a smokescreen at this point.

Re: Tari Eason
I cannot see clyde's defense of Eason, but I assume it's that or a personal attack on me.
Eason bombing workout: https://youtu.be/yVtI68hLNcA?t=1842
Too dumb to learn plays:
Also another sign of dumb (also note the signing date, coincidence?): https://247sports.com/college/cincinnati/board/40/Contents/tari-eason-146258055/?page=1
And yes, I do read the college boards of team of some prospects. This is how I determined that Ayton "caught drug cheating in a league with pre-schedule drug test" was stone cold dumb before the draft.
And you know assist to turnover is one of the best predictor of basketball IQ. This dude is at 1 AST to 2.2 TOV. This is like bottom basement for a wing with solid handles like him. Either has no vision to make plays or is a blackhole on offense. Either outcome isn't great.
Despite all the signs of being dumb irl and on the court, this dude measures like a god and has serious skills, discounting for all these discounting factors, I would put him 15-20 still based on overwhelming talent.

Eh, even if he gets drafted in the 15-20 range I wouldn’t consider that crashing off boards. He was mocked as a 2nd rounder back in Jan/Feb. Since then he’s been mocked in the 9-20 range for a couple of months at this point. If he falls to the 2nd round or so , then I’d say that’s a crash in stock.
Some, myself included, have had him in the 5-10 range for a while , but mainstream mock drafts/big boards have not reflected that at all
Those type of questions about Tari have been there for a while. Why did he go to multiple high schools, why did he go to multiple universities, why did he come off the bench. Already priced in though in terms of mock draft spot

Ron Artest, who I think he compares with, once upon a time averaged more turnovers than assists in college.

Re: Tari Eason
I couldn't find the exact numbers for this, but a LOT of Eason's fouls and turnovers were charges. Kind of the flip side of his high free throw rate. But that helps explain why his A/TO ratio is so bad, at least on the turnover side. (Hard to explain away the low assist numbers.)

If you watched LSU play, it was easily understood.

Re: Tari Eason
Not much difference between Tari Eason and Josh Minott to me.
Little different athletically but very similar NBA prospects— both of them at the starting line in terms of offensive development.
I don’t think either one of them will turn into good offensive players.
Maybe if Eason goes to a running team like Charlotte and plays a small ball 5, maybe he can be effective.
That’s what I see.

Re: Tari Eason
The inability to go left, the ugly jumper & limited feel give me significant pause despite the excellent productivity. I love the motor but he's far from ready. Mid-to-late 1st.

It's interesting to me to compare Eason to Sochan. Sochan's jumper is prettier but his FT% and 3P% were both much lower than Eason's, so I'd say Eason has an easier path to get become a plus NBA shooter. Sochan can't dribble right OR left. Both guys grade as plus defenders, with Eason being riskier and Sochan being more disciplined.
Sochan is two years younger so if you're in the middle of a rebuild you can wait on seeing his skills improve, but if I'm a team trying to win now (nearly everyone in the 8-20 range), I see more value in Eason.

You left out the big gap in playmaking and passing ability. I also think Sochan is pretty comfortably better on the defensive end and a safer bet here. He also plays more within himself which may or may not be something Eason can correct going forward.
