Pop in shambles. No one wants his assistants anymore with Nurse around.

if we lose Griffin, I'm not sure what his plans are but I wonder if Quinn would consider joining our staff? He's a good coach, and Nick always seems to be looking to incorporate new experienced coaching minds to work with.

he walked away from 8 mil, had contract extension offers from jazz of what ever term he wanted.
he looks like wants a year off, just had hip surgery and will be #1 head coaching prospect next hiring cycle.
he doesnt need to pad his resume being an assistant for a year. is the leading candidate to replace pop if he retires next offseason.

One of Pop's disciples, Ime Udoka is coaching in the finals. And even if he wasn't one of Pop's coaching disciples...Steve Kerr did play for Pop and won a championship in San Antonio. And don't forget...coach Bud won a championship with Milwaukee and came from the Popavich coaching tree.
Meanwhile...Nate Bjorkgren didn't last a full season in Indiana and was essentially fired long before the season ended even though he wasn't officially let go until after the season ended.

Pretty sure Kerr is a Phil Jackson guy and credits him as his mentor.

2nd round pick for the permission, lottery protected 1st if they hire him. LOL (I know it won't happen, but if we were a vicious organization, Utah kinda has a gun to their head right now as coaching options are slim).

I like when teams go with new young coaches and provide an opportunity rather than retread coaches. However, I think Terry Stotts in Utah for some reason.

8 years in Utah. No wonder he looks like he needs a drink.

Re: Utah requests permission to interview Adrian Griffin for Head Coach position
He's been one of the best coaches in the league.
With Utah he was 372-264 (.585% / 48 win pace), 6 straight seasons with 44+ wins, 3 50+ win seasons. Never got out of the 2nd round though.

All true but I wonder if he'd still like to pick Nurse's brain for a season
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

You know Utah's just trying to get more info on OG, whether it's worth pursing him or not.

Yeah...not being the lead guy will feel like a rest too. It would be beautiful if AG and Snyder swapped roles for a season. Snyder would bring a lot to the table.
If AG leaves, I see Nate getting his role back as Plan B

Unsurprising as he led Mercer Island High School in the greater Seattle area to a state championship, where he was a McDonald's All American before heading to Duke where he picked up his college, law, and MBA degrees.

Lakers totally screwed up... had they waited a few weeks, they would have gotten one of the best out there.
